While I agree he had a poor second half, this is still the guy who made Mata expendable in the eyes of Jose. He's 22, inconsistencies are bound to happen. If you limited his contributions only to what he does in the final third you're missing the point

I'm sure he's gotten better just not enough to the point where we make a bid for him to play in the pivot. Can't see Jose doing that, this team is built on power and pace, Kroos offers little in that regard and isn't exactly a defensive dynamo... I'd be SHOCKED if Jose sanctioned that move.

None of those teams have been noted as defensive teams AT ALL! Kroos, no matter what you'd like to think about his defensive contributions, will never play in the pivot for a Jose Mourinho team. Unless of course he does a complete 180 and doesn't care about team defense.

Mourinho wants a player who can defend and also get forward and score. Its been true about every team he's been at.... You have to work hard in defense and then he'll give you the freedom to attack.

Please tell me you're not using Pep's words as an indication for someones ability to play in Mourinho's counter attacking system? Kroos played DM under Jupp too doesn't mean he is effective in that role there. The teams you mentioned are built on attacking, this team is built on defense leading to attacking. Not saying I wouldn't like to be proven wrong but I HIGHLY doubt Mourinho sanctions a big money move for Kroos to play in the pivot.

I disagree. And I also doubt we would buy Koke to play 4-3-3 when we have Oscar, Hazard, Salah, Schurrle, Willian, Moses. That's a lot of investment for 2 positions. Won't happen, if we add a player it will definitely be someone who can play the pivot and for 50m Koke ain't that guy.

NO HE CANNOT! He doesn't defend, is slow, can't win the ball back. That's what I've been saying all along if you want to see that beautiful no.10 play in the pivot like many of you keep advocating the solution is to get rid of Jose, he's not going to abandon his defensive principles overnight. Jose wants to win and for him winning means defending as a team first. Kroos has played in the pivot for teams that don't concern themselves with defending, if Jose was going to play like this he wouldn't have sold Mata, he would've played Oscar in the pivot.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Koke worked well under Simeone's system which is similar to ours though we tend to play 4-2-3-1 a lot more. I can't see Koke coming here and playing the pivot for Jose.

Kroos will never play for Jose Mourinho. If you guys want Rakitic, Kroos etc... we will have to sack Jose Mourinho. You need to defend to play for Jose, his philosophy is good defense leads to offense. Kroos has never defended once in his life. I have a strong feeling people are gonna be disappointed when they see the type of player, if any, Jose brings into the squad next year. VanGinkel is another guy who fits the mould, box to box and willing to get himself dirty. These pretty attacking mids people want in the pivot will not happen.

Pogba is way more dynamic than Koke.
