  1. I stand corrected. Did that game really happen?
  2. First since the 1-0 win at Palace last December!
  3. If it gives you any hope, we signed Pulisic in January and it came out of nowhere.
  4. That'll likely be the case but I doubt we'll sign 2 new LBs at the same time. We'll likely sign one next summer and then another one in 2021. But between the two to choose as back-up, I'll take Emerson. Younger than Alonso, which means he potentially has room to get better (we don't need a snail in the team!) and is on lower wages than Alonso (I think).
  5. Don't know why people keep on finding reasons to justify Alonso's inclusion in the XI. Sure, he can do a job here and there and in a back 3/5 but if we want to get to where we want to, he's not the player to help us achieve that.
  6. His goals and assists aside, Alonso's stats aren't very different from Emerson's.
  7. Abraham was struggling with his calf apparently. Hence why he was taken off. Think Pulisic might have come on had Lampard not been forced to making the Azpi-James sub. Azpi was also struggling with a problem apparently.
  8. I'm sure some mid table clubs would take him. The only potential issue is his wages, although I'm not sure how much he's on here. Less than 100k p/w?
  9. If that means we win every game from now till the end of time, then yes please.
  10. This will be our 1st game of 3 in 7 days or 1st game of 4 in 11 days if you include the FA Cup. So, rotation rotation rotation.
  11. Oh boy, you missed a terrific performance and win!
  12. I'm sure every manager would, TBF. But doesn't make Mourinho any less salty than he was.
  13. Watch how some of the doom-mongers won't appear here to praise Lampard for getting it right today...
  14. But if the first choice gets injured and Alonso suddenly becomes temporary first choice...? Between Alonso and Emerson, I'd rather keep the latter. Has more years left in him than Alonso. Besides, we need competition and Alonso isn't going to provide it.
  15. Sarriball lost the Italian Super Cup and to Lazio for the second time this season.
  16. Can't believe Rudiger has to deal with racism shit in England.
  17. A back 3 in a big game, that's fine but not against the lesser teams. And we all know Alonso can be good in a back 3/5 anyway. This game doesn't change that fact. It's just he's useless in a back 4.
  18. Bournemouth, West Ham, Aston Villa didn't really do it, did they? Newcastle came and sit back for 0-0 but those 3 sides sat back and tried to play on the break, maintaining some sort of offensive threat. We aren't at the level where we "forced" teams to just sit back and defend for 0-0, like Man City in past 2 seasons. If Alonso's really worth the risk, we wouldn't have heard of rumors about us wanting to sell him or buying a new LB. And moreover, he turns 29 on December 28. A new replacement is needed ASAP!
  19. Lost to struggling West Ham, Everton and Bournemouth. Beat an in-form Spurs (and Mourinho). So, which side will turn up against Southampton...?
  20. Chelsea 0-2 Southampton PRE/POST-MATCH DISCUSSION, LIVE CHAT AND ANALYSIS 2019/20 Premier League Match 19 26th December, Thursday 2019 Stamford Bridge 15:00 Kick Off (UK time)
  21. But that's assuming teams only come to defend from start to finish, like Newcastle did. Otherwise, we need the entire team to turn up and dominate these smaller teams so Alonso won't be a liability for us. Don't think we want that, do we? Having 2 FBs like Liverpool do will be ideal.
