I think a lot of players feel a lack of in-squad competition. Too many players are too sure of their starting XI spot and don't feel the urge to perform well because there's a replacement around the corner. To alter this, there need to be done 2 things: - Do transfers. More quality, more competition in the team. Simple as that. - Since we won't get more than 2, max 3 new players, let some youngsters play to show the experienced players that if they don't outperform those youngsters, AVB might as well start these youngsters.

Why not play with the reserves? They're actually playing very good football at the moment!

I'm not talking about winning or losing. I'm talking about players giving it a 100% (or more) or not. But anyway, let's hope the fans give the players the support they need later against Villa.

Sorry, but the players get paid a LOT so the least you can expect is that they give it a 100%. Then the supporters, who pay to watch, will sing their hearts out. Not the other way around. I reckon that if the supporters see fire and passion the whole game, they'll sooner accept a draw/loss.

The thing is (which I find normal, that aside): Torres has got plenty of chances. Until now, he blew them. And yes, Lukaku's first touch is weak, bad actually. But that didn't prevent him from scoring goals at Anderlecht. Torres' first touch is rather good, but that didn't guarantee him any goals. I'm just saying; you can moan about Lukaku being a expensive transfer and just playing for the reserves. But he didn't get the chance to prove us, the fans, AVB and the rest of the squad, wrong. Oh, and it's not 18 million yet. It's 13 that can go up to 18 if he performs well. 13 million is still ridiculous for a reserves player, so I'd say: start Lukaku against Villa! I'm pretty confident he won't do any worse than Torres. PS: I love Torres, have nothing against the guy. Still think he's very talented. But at the current Chelsea, he seems pretty much worthless.
