  1. It doesn't seem David Luiz will need much time to adapt to the EPL. He had a nice little cameo against Liverpool and was very solid tonight against Fulham. It would've been a shame if Clint D scored that PK after Luiz's suppose foul on him, but justice was served because that didn't look like a clear, cut penalty. Anyways happy my dude is doing well in his new surroundings and if he keeps this up then Benfica are going to get those nice little bonus
  2. His found new life in Lisbon. Last season he formed a deadly partnership with Cardozo and just took the Portuguese league by storm. He ended up scoring eleven goals and nineteen overall. This season he started the year off a little slow, but since the new year his been scoring goals left and right and currently has seven league goals and eleven overall. I just loved hearing people, including some Benfica fans just write him off as soon as we signed him. They thought his career was done and dusted because he wasn't playing regularly in Madrid, but I just knew he would get his career going again in Benfica. I just love this little guy I call SaviGOLO lol
  3. No way mate As much as I would love to see Coentrao stay his clearly going to be sold for big bucks in the summer to Real Madrid. His just way too good of a player for the Portuguese league and IMO his one of the top five best left wing backs in the world of football. I'm starting to get depressed too because once Coentrao leaves all my favorites from Benfica will be gone lol. I like most Benfica players, but I absolutely love Nuno Gomes, Fabio Coentrao, and David Luiz and by the end of the summer Coentrao will be sold to Madrid and Nuno Gomes will be retiring Who will I adore now? lol
  4. I will always love Ramires as a player, but the way he left Benfica puts a sour taste in my mouth. I mean heres his first words when he signed with the club... "I just want to make history in Benfica. Be it for the 5 years in my contract or by appearing in every game and playing well, then I certainly I will make history here. We all know that in football you will receive good offers if you play well. I can always improve during my career and I don't plan to stay just one season at Benfica. I intend to stay here for 5 years, and who knows, maybe even renew later. Benfica is a great club that every player wants to represent. Whoever is here, needs to make the most of it. I just think I need to do my job and keep trying to get better. I am here to improve as a player and further my career. I had no intention on coming here and leaving the next day." Clearly he did not own up to those words
  5. It pains me to see David Luiz not wearing the red of Benfica anymore Anyways you guys think he will play against Liverpool on Sunday?
  6. Hello Chelsea fans My name is Danny, I'm 21, and from America. I'm a huge Benfica fan and just look forward to talking about Chelsea's connection with Portuguese players and the league itself. You guys have taken many great players from Portugal and develop them to be world class players. Ricardo Carvalho is perfect example of this. BTW can stop taking my good young talent away from Benfica lol. First you took Tiago in 2004 and now your back at it again with Ramires and David Luiz this season. As long as Benfica gets good money I guess I'm ok with it. Cheers mates
  7. Those papers must be BS mate lol. In Benfica I've only seen David Luiz play as a central defender, left-back, and one time defensive midfielder. My recommendation is just play him in his natural center back position. Like I said in my previous post his much more comfortable and suited for that position.
  8. Can you Chelsea fans give me a run down on this kid? What will he bring to Benfica and is he good enough to play for my club? Give me the details por favor
  9. Hello mates. First time posting here. I'll just say I'm a huge Benfiquista (Benfica fan) and I'm absolutely gutted to see David Luiz leave my club. I knew David Luiz's days at Benfica were numbered, but I would've preferred him to leave in the summer. Oh well at least Benfica got some nice cash for him. Anyways for those who don't know much about David Luiz here's a run down from a fan who's been watching him play the last four years... David Luiz is by no means overrated. I mean he won the best player in the Portuguese League last season, captained our side in a few games even though his still 23, and his been getting call-ups, as well as, starts for the Brazilian NT. Since his been in Benfica his always been a rock for us at the back. His really a strong, physical player who rarely misses a beat. He knows how to defend and position himself well at the back, his distribution from the back is good, and can pop in some goals here and there off a set piece. I would compare him to a Ricardo Carvalho little bit. I remember when he first signed with us and began playing a few games a lot of fans were saying his playing style is similar to R.Carvalho. You guys surely won't be disappointed. Just don't expect him to hit the ground running because as you know its always tough for a player to join a new team in a new country especially during the middle of the season. However, come to think of it he did join Benfica during the middle of the season in 2007 and adapted really quickly to the Portuguese game, but I feel he will need a bit more time with you guys because lets face it playing for a team like Chelsea in the best Football league in the world is real different then playing for Benfica in the Portuguese League. My only advice to you Chelsea fans is don't play him at left-back lol. Some reports say he can play on the left side when needed, but he will suck for you at that position. His better off and more comfortable as a central defender. With that said I wish nothing, but the best for my former hero. Enjoy him and hopefully once his contract runs out he'll come back to his true home Forca David Luiz!!!
