  1. Of course we need him. As has been mentioned our squad is way to short on depth to contemplate selling him. Plus as Essien has proved he's not shy of a good injury now and again so who would we play in the hole? He's always a good option to have always hard in the tackle never see him bottle a 50/50 i love watching him play and when i look at the team sheet and even see his name on the bench I'm filled with confidence that we've got quality there to come on help us close out tight games
  2. Cheers That isn't even the worst part. My season ticket is two seats away from the traveling supporters, you can imagine the aggro i get when i just stand there for all the goals ha ha for anyone who's been to The Stadium Of Light I'm right next to you on your left. I was at the bridge and I'll be honest i was happy with the result, mainly because it was unexpected and the emotions in the away end were of disbelief more than anything else still couldn't bring myself to celebrate the goals though
  3. Like the idea The scenario with Ivanovic is simple, he either plays right back or he doesn't play and sits in the reserves till the summer. No way he should be allowed to pick and choose where he plays that's up to the manager to decide. If we start letting players pick and choose there positions were asking for trouble with the rest of the players asking why he gets special treatment
  4. Cheers mate. Two reason's I'm not surprised 1). The Irish flag 2). The Beach ball as your favorite player Ha ha yeah they've been quality although since Gyan and Welbeck have came in Bent's goals have dried up. Seems he's not the main man anymore and the pressure is getting to him a bit
  5. Cheers I didn't for about the first five years then slowly got used to it was kind of around the time when kids were growing up and supporting United because they were winning everything and i was always a stubborn little sod for wanting to be different
  6. Cheers. Yeah about 12 pints for each one Aye mate cracking night up here, your going to the right place can't beat The Gate about ten pubs in one building class for when it's cold and you can't be bothered to walk far
  7. I think even if Alex is back he would still be a good buy now. He's 22 so he's going to be here for the future so he can cover till the end of the season if he doesn't make the grade straight away. Going by the reviews in this thread though that shouldn't be a problem. If he turns out to be better than Alex then even better If we did get him Ivanovic sold in the summer or keep the five center half's?
  8. One thing I've learned with paper talk and young players like Chamberlain is the prices they quote are just about double of what the clubs end up paying so i reckon we could get him for about £5m-£6m I've seen him play a few times and he looks good, really good but that's at League One level. Big step up for him to The Premiership, can see a bit of Walcott in him with his pace but also see him sitting the first few years out and still getting picked in a World Cup squad sort of player in him. The kind everybody would love to see but you know would just get crushed at this level. If we can get him for half the £10m brilliant. If not let Man City or Liverpool take there chances
  9. Cheers mate. Yeah going along alright been pleasantly surprised, was kind of expecting another relegation battle but Bruce has done a good job. Some good players like you say the problem now is hanging onto them
  10. Agree with the majority really. I don't know an awful lot about the lad just from what I've read but I've never read a bad report on him. The price doesn't bother me if he's as good as people say then it's a good price still taking his age into account as well Be very happy if the deal went through would give us more strength at the back and help us to stop shipping goals like we have been. Would rather get it done now than the summer, stops interested clubs beating us to him but on the flip side if we wait till the summer other players at better prices may become available. See how it plays out suppose, if we don't get him i still trust our defence to come good and pull out of the slump
  11. Hi name's Ian, 25 from Sunderland 'Up North', been a Blue for about 20 years now ever since my dad took me to a Sunderland Vs Chelsea match in 1991. Always followed the boys after that and became an avid follower which is on a par with my obsession for Sunderland. I'll get it straight from the start i am also fanatic about Sunderland but also feel exactly the same way about Chelsea, not many people believe that's possible but I've managed it for 20 years so i assure you it is i have the Sunderland badge tattooed on one arm and the Chelsea badge on the other I have a season ticket at The Stadium Of Light three reasons for that 1). I'm also a Sunderland fan (obviously) 2). I get to at least two blues games a season guaranteed plus what i can fit in when money allows 3). I get to see regular football every week such is my love for the game i wouldn't be able to do without it When the two meet I'm the guy who wants the draw Seems like I'm rambling so I'll stop. Cheers for reading and looking forward to meeting everyone
