I don’t know what is the plan for next season. We have 80 players, most of them will never play for us. Everyone is inconsistent, manager is quite iffy. Results have been bad for three years with some good runs. I inexplicably get some joy from our financial tricks, but am getting more and more frustrated with the state of our club…

The second biggest concern after injuries at this tournament is the level of the referees. Are there any european refs? At least for the knockout stage?

As for the talk that the board are better at identifying good attackers than defenders. It is really nearly impossible to buy 20 year old defenders and manage to construct a good defence. Experience and squad chemistry is needed to have a competent back line. You can have an individual moment of brilliance in attack that makes you look brilliant and covers mistakes. That is simply impossible for defenders.

I have seen some rumours about Mitrovic to united. He is nowhere near the profile our board looks at, but I think he could be a Giroud level signing. Not happening I know. Only an interesting option to talk about.

We cant have a young, exciting squad on low wages and sign ready made senior players. The wage structure of the team is the most important, not the age or experience of players. If we sell a highly successful purchase(Palmer/Caicedo/Cucu) we can and should get mad about it. As long as we buy young potentially great players and keep only the ones who work, we are doing a tremendous job. The squad continues to grow stronger both players individually and together as a team. It is a beautiful thing to watch and I hope it delivers silverware big time. COYB!
