So: The players are playing like shit so it must be their fault .A bit simplistic really. But at least you are asking the right question, why are they shit? And there propably are a multitude of reasons. Mismanagement, bad atmosphere, lack of personal motivation, etc.... You can't deny that somewhere in there the manager is playing a big role.
-
If two or even three players are playing below par it would be understandable, but almost a whole team !? For me that's a strong indication the coach is doing something very wrong.
-
BS argument. The team has changed a lot in the recent ten years. Players came and players went. A lot of the players have not experienced those sackings. While I agree that some teams sack their managers way too soon, there are boundaries. Mourinho has been inadequate as a coach since last february, yes he won us a league but he destroyed the team's attacking intent, then there was the Eva-situation and now there are all those rumours (I know just rumours) about his bad attitude in the dressing room + his stuborness to change players or tactics (Iva is STILL on),. This had gone too far and Mou has shown no willingness to change, he's destroying the team. He has to go or this will only get worse.

Wasn't there an article some time ago where Rafa Benitez said that he always had to clean up the mess Mourihno made ( Inter, Chelsea, Real). I know " the fat Spanish waiter" isn't really popular here but maybe there's some truth to it. Mourinho can win you the league short term but is self-destructive (for him AND the team) on the long term.

Of course I understand and concur with criticism of Hazard being underwhelming during most of the last matches but yesterday specifically I honestly think you can't blame him too much. There are times that it is reasonable to single out a players performance (good or bad), yesterday was no such occasion. The ball hardly came to him and even if it did passes beween front players where bad. He made a dangerous effort on goal and tried to drop deeper to collect the ball, sadly all for naught. The team was already playing bad when he came on, the only thing you can blame Hazard of is that he didn't change that. But like I said I don't see any single player changing that, not in this team, not with this lack of chemistry.

Don't know if I like the comparison. In the end Samson grew some of his hair back, took down a temple and got himself killed and buried under the falling stones. Chelsea obviously being the temple in this story it doesn't sound very optimistic.
-
He was on the pitch for 28 minutes. Not enough to change anything really. Also the team was playing atrociously bad, the ball hardly got to him and the interplay between the front players was erratic. May sound like a Hazard apologist and fanboy, and maybe I am but I really think you can't blame him much for yesterday. He did more in those 28' than what Pedro did in 73'. I am quite certain not even Ronaldo or Messi could make a difference in a team playing this bad. Stop singling out players (Ivanovic being the exception), it's the failure of an entire team and its coach.

The Good: Begovic, Azpi and Willian. The Bad: Pedro, Fabregas and Matic. & The Ugly: Ivanovic

Hazard greeting king Filip of Belgium. I like him even more now.

The team lacks cojones. There's been a lot of criticism on the defence but it is in the attack that we lack the most. Players like Fabregas and Hazard are just shadows of their former selves. Willian doesn't find the goal, Oscar... where's Oscar? Even Costa seems dull. Actually I am not suprised this is happening. It's just the culmination of what was happening at the end of last season and the CL Jose castrated his attack by refraining them to do what they can do best, going forward and being creative. Kenedy and Pedro seem allright now, but lets see what a Mourinho-year does with their vigor. Mourinho can win you a title, maybe a CL by playing unatractive boring football, but there is a limit on how long a player can sustain this. Apparently it is somewhere around 1-2 years. Give the team their cojones back, Jose.

I think it's justified that Mourinho gets the flack for this. His tactics failed miserably since they didn't enabale players to dominate the game or to make decisive actions. His tactics made the team play like shit. This is especially true for creative players like Hazard. He stood alone and there's no support at all. The same goes for Costa, the only thing he could do is resort to more dubious behaviour. Its all defence and hoping that Hazard, Willian,Costa etc... have a sudden flash and score a goal. Mourinho really needs to learn from this cause it didn't work against PSG weeks ago or against Athletico last year. I am not saying that all the players get off scot-free. But the major responsibility lays with Mou's "plan". I am not going to hide the fact that maybe I'm a bit of a fanboy but I'm quite sure that Messi or CR wouldn't have done alot better in the same situation. I am convinced that Mou is holding back Hazard's potential. He may have become a bit better at defending now, but his creativity and energy is suffering.
-
This one definitely is on Mourinho. Cause I'm sure the players did exacty what he wanted, and I'm quite sure no one really played bad in his appointed role. It's the second time Mourinho's tactics cost Chelsea the next round in the CL. I just don't believe why you can fall in the same trap again and again. It's propably cause he had his succes with it but nevertheless I think it's stupid. Defend, defend, defend from the start, hoping that, with any luck, you can score a goal. And if you do score a goal: defend, defend and defend again although you know all your oponent needs is just one goal to come even or win the game. It's like he's always hoping you can win by the smallest margin especially in these big games and that's very dangerous cause you are playing with fire. It's sad that Mourinho shows no faith in the attacking qualities of his team. I'm convinced that at the bridge with a one goal-advantage we would have won that game if we just showed some, even just some, attacking intent. But, yeah, what ifs...,

With Chelsea playing like this I'm surprised Hazard singed a new contract. He had no chance to influence this game at all. One moment I even thought I saw some irritation because chels didn't play forward enough. It's been said many times but this end justifies the means-football sucks and nullifies the talented players. On the other hand he probably knew Mou will never change when he signed. Imo a waste of talent
-
Very promising performance by Zouma. Willian was lively too. Hazard apart from the super-cross, was quiet, propably cause we stopped atacking in second half. Remy was good when he needed to be. Obviously (with Costa and Fabregas) it could've been better. But I'll gladly take the point. Top of the table.
-
Best player on the field but he should've scored twice. It wasnt the first match this season where he almost could've won it by himself but didnt. Thats the difference between very good and legend. He could use some Rockyesque- Karatekid-like-goalscoring training.
-
He propably tried already many times but Torres being Torres, he has always missed.
