Not impressed with this transfer at all. Mainly because he's just not that intelligent with the ball. I know I know he was in the greatest club if this generation. But, what, apart from running with the ball and finishes, he gives nothing with the ball at his feet. He runs down blind alleys wen he should pass, in big games he would never start, substitute coming on at 70+. It's a shame, we could do with a starter in this position.

I'm all for this. Would add multiple qualities we lack. His defensive contribution (not a deep CM though) will help win the ball back in big games. His intelligence will help keep it too. I actually look at him as in between matic and Fabregas in the type of player he is. Pogba? Better player. Aranguiz? Fits like a glove.

Thanks for the update, looks like our window is about to start! I wa thinking though, we have just won the premier league. Then we went on a post season tour. Mourinho probably needed to just focus on his family and his holiday, after all this is the time of year to do so. Now he's back, things should start to kick on quickly!

If we don't buy a midfielder this summer to challenge for the first team/play in the big games then I guarantee we will buy in January. Either Aranguiz will shore up the midfield in the big games or someone like Isco, who is very hard working, will play CAM and help us control the ball more. If not, come January we will be screaming to buy, just you watch. Rafa - January buy Demba Ba Jose first back - January buy Salah and Matic Last season - January buy Cuadrado This season - ?

We need an extra attacking threat - whether that's from midfield or the RW I don't think matters hugely We need a midfield that can actually dominate games, not even necessarily in possession. That away 0-1 victory at Man City in Jose's first season should be the blue print. I think we need to replace David Luiz in midfield, his attributes of power, tackling, pressing and passing. So another Matic? Not necessarily. Matuidi, Imbulu,,Schneiderlin come to mind but I think Koke's tackling and defensive work would couple with Matic nicely in a pivot. Those are the two priorities for me. -----–------------------ Courtois---------------------- Ivanociv-----Cahill----------Terry---------Azpi ---------------Koke-------------Matic----------------- -----------------------Fabregas----------------------- Griezmann-----------------------------Hazard ------------------------Costa--------------------------- Such a flexible team! What we may lose with Willian's covering of Ivanovic we soften with Koke who has played RM loads. Without the ball we could easily have a flat 4 of Koke---Matic------Fabregas-----Hazard in front of the defence and Diego will have support on the counter. Griezmann adds movement and finishing, Costa will have more room and less focus on him. I think we'd actually walk the league again with this, and that's regardless of what other teams do in the summer. If we can't buy both Koke and Griezmann from Atleti, and I can see that being something unlikely to happen especially in one summer, I'll just go with the reports that Griezmann looks very likely. In that case we'd need a dominating midfielder anyway, but without him I'd love to see a 4-4-2 diamond at home to teams in the bottom 10. ------------------------Courtois--------------------- Ivanovic----------Cahill--------Terry------Azpi ------------------------Matic------------------------ ------------Willian-------------Cesc-------------- ----------------------Hazard----------------------- -------------Griezmann------Costa-------------- Griezmann plays second striker most of this season and that's where he's best. Him and Costa would be such a handful. Hazard gets to play in the position that would let him become great. Willian plays deeper, where there's space in front of him. Without the ball, easy transition to a flat 4 again in front of the defence. Also I think this should be the season where Zouma continues to grow and challenge Cahill.

anyone think hazard looks grumpy?

This guy has actually improved slightly sice he joined Madrid - I think his football decisions last season was the best hes been. if he comes back I cant see him being any worse than his last season here. That's in his performances not necessarily stats but that's nothing to do with his time at Madrid, Chelsea are just different to Tottenham. But you tell me honestly, you wouldn't want this guy on the fucking right?!?!?! cant paste the video - but watch his 2012/2013 season 31 goals on youtube 12 mins long and tell me him and hazard wont rival neymar and suarez

Second that
-
Sterling runs at us easy this game - Luis can't stop him - Mikel neither

Cuadrado would be useless against a team this athletic and powerful

-
You know that website I gave, when he said we are interested in Koke and Roman was asked to confirm the price? Well he just said that Madrid are after Mikel!! Lol sounds bizarre! All I can think of is Ancelloti loves him still. If this actually happens then I know the site isn't complete BS

Bale gives what we desperately need, something we haven't really had since Lampard was still near his peak..... Someone who can reliable score goals from outside the box.
-
I was a big fan and am now a big suspect. The hope is he needs to get used to less time in the ball and needs more strength (and balance too) This should then improve confidence. Or he's just not made for the PL

Listening to media saying how adaptive we are, i had a thought..... well more of a dream team to be honest, it would be the greatest team of chelsea's history, really more fun to think about than expect to happen! But, could you imagine Jose building a team which could play in a similar way to all of his great teams? the machine like efficiency an direct ruthlessness of his chelsea 2004-06 the unbeatable defence of Inter with a midfield of counter attacking prowess. the glitz and aesthetic of his madrid title winning team. Thing is, im not so sure you have to really sacrifice one for the other (within reason)? i think your defence needs to be able to play both deep and high pressing? your midfield needs to be athletic and powerful (chelsea midfield) have the defensive screening of cambiasso (matic?) and have someone to control possession and be good at starting counterattacks (dont think thats cesc, but i do think Koke) Hazard gives the spark, the magic in attack. Costa can be dynamite and ignite a game that much more through confrontation, but we need another attacking theat. i think we need a winger/striker. someone who can play the role malouda/anelka did for us, etoo did for inter and ronaldo for madrid. ? such a team would win the league three times in a row very unlikely to happen though, i think we'd still have to redo at least half the team? what would be your dream mourinho team?

Why is it a moot point that Terry is a centre back? at least we can say Ancelotti still had a good defence. David Luiz was incredible - on average - from January to the end of the season. scored against United and City. in fact he was MOM against city. assist in important games too, on average his contributions outweighed his brain farts. So Lampard suddenly went down hill from the season before? are you telling me that the drop off was that sharp? Well you would have to choose those two teams (its convinient to forget that Jose built that team, getting rid of like 5 or 6 squad players - big players like Descially and Hasselbank, Veron. He chose to drop Cudicini But lets make it fair, what was Mourinho given in his final season? robben was replaced with malouda, ben haim and sidwell and Pizzaro were brought in. Duff was replaced by Kalou. the year before. Mourinho's first year back he had a team which had been off the pace for years in the league, starting with Carlo's last actually. Azpi turned into the player he has because of mourinho, he was completely different the moment he started his first game in Jose's first season. He took a team with torres, Ba and a 34? year old etoo and finished closer to the title than carlo could with Drogba, Anelka and Torres - not to mention with a midfield of ramires - lampard/ mikel - lampard for the first half of the season compared to Ancellotti's lampard - ramires - essien. Plus he took a Hazard who was amazing in one match and off in others and made him PFA player of the year. This isnt to knock Ancelotti - he has his perks and his cons. But he can't touch mourinho. mourinho can change a team to win when it plays crap, he can turn good players into very good players. But Ancelotti has that eye brow
-
he's a manager who picks the best players in the squad. when it goes good then all is well but when it went bad he had no idea how to stop it. considering the age of terry, lampard and drogba now - what 4 years older? terry's been amazing, lampard was winning city games at the start of the season and drogba at 37 has at least played a part. he was given david luiz in January and had at least had a decent squad size. Benayoun was never used and ramires was bought to replace Ballack. I think he is tailor made for Real Madrid.

hiddink is the only one who was as good as him
