Some people would argue the Premier League trophy was destined to end up in West London after Chelsea went and beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in early April. Others would be more calculated and say it was the 8-0 demolition of Wigan that truly won it; adopting an attitude of ‘it’s never over until it’s over.’

There have been certain games this season where Chelsea have showed their mettle and quality – and it is these games and these games alone that have won us the Premier League.

15. Chelsea 3-0 Birmingham

This game might have been much more difficult had Florent Malouda not scored an early header. Chelsea ended Birmingham’s incredible unbeaten streak with a gritty performance – it was a test for the title challengers and they passed brilliantly. January would ultimately prove a fruitful month for the Blues.

4. Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

The Battle of Stamford Bridge in November saw John Terry’s header win it for Chelsea in front of a vociferous crowd in West London. The margin was now five points and the title looked to be heading back to the Blues’ trophy cabinet.
