Not really, Mikel has been one of our best players this season. We wouldn't be winning by such high scorelines if we didn't have him protecting our defence.

I do think his lack of experience has taking toll against the big sides this year and without doubt we have missed Essien against the likes of Man you, Liverpool and in both Roma games.

Essien has EVERYTHING a central midfielder should have. He can defend, he can attack as shown when lampard was out last season, he can shoot, he has pace, he can score goals, he can tackle.... hes a fucking train and dominates games and the sooner he gets back in the team, the better. Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. Essien is one of our better players and one of the best midielders in the world but Mikel has done well to earn his place this season and has been vital for us in Essien's absence. To take the kid out as soon as Essien is match fit would be harsh and de-moralising.

Anyway, I doubt Essien will be 100% until the start of next season. A lot will change til then.

Michael Essien won't be playing as a DM again unless Mikel is unfit. He's made that position his own.

Excellant news, Mikel is awesome. Lets not forget his age, if he was at the Arse he would be lauded as a wonderkid whereas here he his classed among world class players, which is a very good compliment to him actually.

Barring the Roma game Mikel has just got better and better, but Mikel wasn't the only player having an off day that game.

Mikel is pure class.
