According to reports in Italy and England, Chelsea could be close to poaching the younger brother of Sebastian Giovinco from Juventus, before he signs a professional contract with the Bianconeri.

Giovinco Sr, who is regarded as one of the most explosive young talents in the whole of Europe, has been hitting the headlines in recent days with widespread reports suggesting that Arsenal are set to make a January transfer bid for his services.

If the latest speculation is to be believed, it seems as if a Giovinco may indeed end up in the English Premiership, although not Sebastian but his lesser known younger brother Giuseppe, who is wanted by Chelsea.

Giovinco Jr plays for the Juventus Berretti squad, which consists of players under the age of 19.

The 17-year-old plays in the same creative position as his elder sibling, although he is said to be more physical, and ever so slightly taller.

Chelsea are said to be impressed by Giovinco Jr's talent, and are looking to poach him from Juventus, before he signs his first professional contract, which he will be able to do when he turns 18 in two weeks time.

"So far I have not received offers," said Giuseppe's agent Andrea D'Amico a few months ago.

"However I am not surprised if Giuseppe has been followed by Chelsea and other English clubs as they observe in a systematic manner all the youth leagues of our country."

There has been an escalating row building this year between Serie A and the Premiership, with a number of Italian clubs accusing English teams of "stealing" their young players before they sign a professional contract.

Reggina's 15-year-old prospect Vincenzo Camilleri was snapped up by Chelsea in February, Atalanta's teenage talent Fabio Zamblera by Newcastle Utd, while in the summer Roma starlet Davide Petrucci was poached by Manchester United.

This all led to Palermo President Maurizio Zamaparini famously labelling English clubs as "pirates", and if Giovinco was to move to Chelsea prior to his 18th birthday it would undoubtedly start another war between the two leagues.Goal.com
