Safe Standing in Football

Hi, I’m the Off-Side team, who have made a new television/web show.

Our first guest was Jon Darch from the Safe Standing Roadshow and he kindly brought in a replica of a 'rail-seat' one which many clubs in England are now supporting, the latest being Aston Villa and is seen throughout stadiums in the Bundesliga. If you are interested in seeing the seat in action and hearing about it from Jon please visit www.off-side.co.uk.

I’m sure you’d love Chelsea to support the rail seat and even like see it being tested inside the Bridge.

The main show also features Goalball player Steve Troy and a comedic sketch around the "Off-Side Rule". If you just want to view the Safe Standing Segment, click the episodes page and scroll through the Vimeo widget until you find "Safe Standing Segment".

Thanks for watching, let us know what you think about the rail-seat.

Hi All,

I didn't want to create a new thread as this one already exists. I think this is a topic that people should seriously consider if they are so inclined. A mate of mine e-mailed me this template to send round to a few people to gather support for their campaign, so I thought I'd post it here. Currently the online petition has 16,000+ signatures and needs your support if you want to see safe standing brought to England.

I'll quickly outline the benefits of SAFE standing:

  • Possibility for cheaper seats
  • Greater volume of ticket sales which will offset or overtake the loss from cheaper ticket sales and boost atmosphere.
  • Singing whilst standing is so much better and creates an awesome atmosphere/vibe around the ground
  • The club could sell a greater quantity of merchandise, food/drink and programs.
  • Its SAFE. Understandably the Hillsborough disaster has had a large effect on this country and our views towards standing/terraces but it is time to move on and explore safe standing conditions that have been used in Germany for years.

The Football Supporters' Federation - Safe Standing Campaign

The FSF's Safe Standing Campaign is supported by the Safe Standing Roadshow and Stand Up Sit Down.

AIMS: To persuade the Government, football authorities and football clubs to accept the case for introducing, on a trial basis, limited sections of standing areas at selected grounds in the stadiums of Premier League and Championship football clubs.

The FSF needs all fans to help. What can you do?

Step 1 - Sign the FSF's Safe Standing Petition: http://www.fsf.org.u...afestanding.php

Step 2 - Email your MP from this link, or visit their office, and ask them to sign Roger Godsiff’s Safe Standing EDM 573...

Step 3 - Let us know what response you get via [email protected]. We want to see which MPs sign the EDM and will follow up those who don’t.

Step 4 - Spread the word. Send this page to your mates via email, Facebook, Twitter or whatever other social media the cool kids use nowadays. If you’re involved with a supporters’ organisation, fanzine or website use your links to promote this page.

3 minute youtube video:

Want to do more? Contact the FSF. In the coming weeks we expect to see a great deal more activity and need volunteers who are willing to commit time and fight for the cause. Email: [email protected]

Thanks for your time!
