Death of defending?

I know its not directly connected to Chelsea, but we all know that there are big issues in our club too, considering how mistake-prone our defence has become. Just few years ago, we had Terry-Carvalho partnership that was worlds best defence for many people. United had Ferdinand-Vidic, Barca had Puyol-Pique (when they were actualy great at defending), Lpool had Skrtel-Carragher defence,...and so on.

Now, its not secret that top club defences are shit. Not that bad, but certainly there is not single defender like Puyol, Nesta, Terry were in their golden ages. Modern defenders dont care about defending any more, but more about going forward, doing Messi,...and at Chelsea, we have very similar problem. The only defence that gone up in past year is Real defence, Pepe is not that agressive anymore, but always makes almost perfect tackles, while Ramos evolved into one of best CBs at the moment.
