Strange contradictions in ethics. The ultimate crime in golf is to cheat. This might be as trivial as moving a marker an inch before

putting. Punishment : disqualification and probably a year ban . More serious to alter a score: punishment : Universal criticism

ans a longer ban . Players will as a matter of course award penalties against themselves. In a competition last year this

possibly cost Brian Davis $600 000.

In football what most would call cheating is called being "professional"

Yet in football a single remark is construed as racial abuse and the media and public conduct a kangaroo court.

In golf ,the world's highest paid caddy makes a speech in which he talks about his previous employer ,,a coloured player recognised

as one of the best golfer of all times in extremely abusive racial terms.

The outcome : he apologies and the matter is considered closed.

Then we have the FIFA ban preventing England wearing poppies on their shirts. In golf especially in the USA war veterans

are treated for what they are ;_-heroes.
