There are a lot for hate toward him... the weird thing is the gap of opinion between professionals (actual players and pundits) who think he is top class (which he is) and non-professionals (well, people) who think he is an overhyped nobody. The weird thing is, despite the fact he is the most talented player of the (eventual) champion of the (arguably) strongest league and has been voted POTY, it's probably his least bombastic season I've seen from him. His hardest working but least impressive season. In every seasons he scored tons of screamers, in this one, not so much. The most impressive would be his last season at Lille.

They were not physical, they were aggressive, almost violent. Cavani, Verratti etc... kicking the legs of Hazard at every opportunity and not being punished enough for this. The problem is Hazard enjoys a reputation in France almost bigger than in England; and Blanc who is an admirer of Hazard knows that it's better to foul Hazard and play ugly than letting him play. Yes, there are too many lightweight... I mean Ramires, Oscar and Fabregas are great players, but they get pushed around too much and Costa is too slow and Matic is not enough.
-
Eden was not at fault against PSG... incredibly frustrating game to watch PSG is an aggressive team and not in a good way. The player frustrating me the most is Diego Costa though...too nonchalant and sometimes unprofessional behaviour... usually it's Cuadrado frustrating me, thank god he didn't play (I think?)... I think Chelsea should buy.
-
City and PSG seemed to have the same strategy: have at least 3 players rush aggressively on Hazard whenever he has the ball to starve chelsea's attacks. Unfortunately it worked a bit.
-
Let's hear women here about it...
-
Hazard was decent considering his role was different, more of a playmaker. The line-up seemed a bit experimental, with no real striker (Remy drifted away too much)... but not very balanced IMO. There was no one up front in crosses.. Hazard likes to play with a sitting player "anchoring" the midfield or the attack, like Fabregas, Costa or Drogba; and Willian/Cuadrado/Remy had too much of a free role... it seemed a bit loose sometimes.
-
He played a bit below his level in the last two games, but he had still an assist and a goal.
-
He was tired but he had Fernandinho/Fernando rushing on him like rugby players when he had the ball, and Fabregas was clearly missed in the link-up play.
-
It's common knowledge that Hazard is supposed to have no workrate, to be only able to dribble and nothing else, to be selfish... by non-Chelsea fans mostly, who obviously don't watch Chelsea matches.
-
He is playing as a kind of playmaker but he is more offensive compared to Fabregas... and he can play laterally but not strictly as a "winger"... so I still think he'd have been an alternative to Willian or Oscar more than Fabregas. And an amazing alternative at that. The problem with De Bruyne was that he was vastly underrated, by Mourinho, by everyone and even by me... when he was announced at Chelsea I thought he would never make it... I was massively wrong. I'm sure Mourinho has regrets.
-
Good player but that's a bit dumb from Chelsea to get rid of De Bruyne then get Thorgan.
-
I remember that game against England like it was yesterday... I can't believe it's almost 10 years ago. The game of Hazard against Spain in the same tournament was great too... Bojan Krkic scored a screamer for Spain; he advised Barcelona to sign Hazard afterward.
-
Why not. Maybe Messi is aware that Barcelona's best days are behind and that they aren't going to get better. They will struggle to replace Xavi and Iniesta (in a sense Fabregas/Hazard is the new Xavi/Iniesta) and Chelsea has a better future than Barcelona.
-
They can play together. I'd be more worried for Willian or Schurrle.
-
That's true, that's what I always thought. A lot of players who like to hold the ball, keep it, and who are very good at it... but kinda gives lethargic movements (like in Brazil); that's why Belgium has over 60% of ball possession but nothing gets done... a Belgium game looks like a cat playing with a mouse but never eat it. I'd say Mertens is one of the only direct player, hence his impact when he comes in.
-
Eden Hazard=massively underrated
-
It's funny when I look at sites like Goal.com or youtube videos etc... whenever there is mention of Hazard, it's usually followed by a few "lol" and "rofl" as if he wasn't taken seriously... I feel that people don't know Hazard, those who don't watch Chelsea that is. When confronted, they usually answer that he overdribbles, is selfish, can't pass etc... (like a Robinho/Ben Arfa type of player) which is absolutely wrong if they bothered to watch him play 5 minutes. I wonder how comes he is so little known or recognized outside Chelsea/Lille/Belgium fans.
-
Seems like Kompany knows that Hazard hates defenders rushing on him; everytimes Kompany plays with Hazard, he is very aggressive and tough-tackling, instead of being in "anticipation". I really feel that it was kinda the key to stop Chelsea; just constantly make a foul on Hazard to stop the flow of Chelsea attacks by rushing toward him like a rugby player. The difference being that this season, creativity can pass through Fabregas.
-
I thought it was one of his worst performance. He is a bit overshadowed by the very impressive duo Diego Costa/Fabregas so far...
-
I think Hazard really shines when he is slightly in the middle with a winger (or left back) supporting him. He shouldn't play too wide on the wings. Also, looking at the vids, I find his teammates much too far away from him... Fabregas should be much closer to him...
-
He should play more centrally... in the WC for example he was far too isolated on the wings... whenever he has the ball in the center he is ALWAYS dangerous... Wenger was right when he said Hazard will end up in the middle later in his career. I'd see him in an "in between" position between the wings and the centre, like Figo back in the day. When he drift away too far on the wing, he is ineffective. I'm sure his understanding with Fabregas will be deadly.
-
He basically meant that Chelsea is not made around the idea of possession but around counter attacking, which is something Mourinho once said too (because the players are more fast than strong).
-
(or Azpi, whoever was the left back )
-
If he ends up being the last man to defend at the left back, then something else than Hazard is wrong in the team, because he is not supposed to. Everyone's bashing Hazard, but where was Ashley Cole?
-
I don't get it. Did I watch the same match? Everyone is bashing Hazard everywhere. I don't care that he didn't track back for 2 goals, he is not a bloody DEFENDER. I will go so far as saying he played quite well today.
