Lol Hazard wasn't world class 2 years ago...............he was a young talent at a bigger club and a more well known league. If Basel was smart enough to hold on to him till the summer they would've had better offers. Also supply and demand is a big part of this. When Chelsea signed Hazard, there was a HIGH demand from multiple teams for a winger including Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham, Barca (not so much IMO) & Real.......as opposed to now where each of those clubs reinforced their wing position in the summer or promoted from the youth (januzaj for man u) This year, Chelsea's only competition was Liverpool who aren't big spenders right now anyways.

Basel is the Barca of the Swiss league. If you watch what happens in those games, everyone parks the bus against them and just defends. He has a much more limited amount of space in the Swiss league Also, in the same year Chelsea got Hazard he had a total of ZERO goals in UCL playing with Lille in the same amount of games Salah has. Edited to make more sense.......probably failed though

9 From the penalty spot relax, and how many in UCL against real challengers?
-
Wtf? That's all Hazard was 2 years ago............. They're almost the exact same player at salah's age, only difference is that hazard has better crossing and passing skills while salah has a better eye for goal.
-
So you watched the team atop the league play against lower level teams who parked the bus the entire game? And expect to see an offensive masterpiece? Brilliant

I like this, lets keep talking about this cuz we actually have uncovered a good amount to talk about now. So lets not overrate Inter's defense during the Benitez era, they were good, but not the best in the world. However I will agree with you that Zanetti was the one marking him and did a fantastic job shutting him down. And true comparing that to Ivanovic is unfair, however when looking at Hazard vs Salah the key point I was making was that Salah was getting shut down by Azpilicueta during the second leg. However the ability to adapt allowed him to find an opening on the other side of the field. Again granted that we are only looking at a small sample size, it's still impressive in my eyes for a 21 year old to do that. Secondly lets not overrate Hazard's performance in 2011-12. Hazard scored 20 goals, of which 9 came from the penalty spot. Where Hazard's hidden quality IMO was his 10 assists that year. Salah this year in UCL scored 5 goals in 10 games, unfortunately i can't find more of his stats right now. And finally Salah was awarded the Swiss player of the year award last month, so they were both atop of their respective leagues at the time of transfer. I honestly think he's going to thrive especially in the EPL where he'll have more space to run around and show his speed.

You're also overrating the French league 2 years ago.....this was before PSG & Monaco got new owners
-
By a mile Hossam Hassan was a great footballer and fantastic striker, but Aboutrika could control the entire game from his feet. Think of him as to France's Zidane, while Hossam is more like Theiry Henry

Alright lets clear up a few things right now lol I never said he is currently better than hazard. If you look at my post history, I joined after Hazard signed for Chelsea to just lurk and see what people were saying, and I must say I was impressed by the amount of knowledge people had of him. Nothing major but they knew his skills and characteristics. This time around it seems that people know much less about him, which is strange since he beat you guys twice. What i said is that Salah right now is better than Hazard was two years ago. Two years ago in UCL with Lille Hazrd couldn't touch Inter's defense and looked like he was completely lost. However Salah was able to break down chelsea's defense in a home and away series. Pretty impressive if you ask me. In the second leg Salah was lined up against Azpilicueta for the entire match and as soon as he drifted towards Ivanovic's side and found someone he could outrun, he scores the game winner minutes after. Regardless of that being a manger change or if he noticed it himself, the fact that he was able to adapt on the fly is a very rare commodity at his age. How is going from Mata to Salah underwhelming? Salah's natural position is a Winger not a CAM like Mata is. So basically chelsea unloaded a CAM that they weren't using out of the 4 they have on staff, and replaced him with a Winger and gained a 26 mil pound profit......seems like good business to me. Also, considering Jose's favorite formation that he used at Inter & Real (4-2-3-1) and all three player's versatility, I could see any of them line up as a Winger/CAM so this gives Jose millions of opportunites to rotate. but ideally I'd play them as Hazard - Oscar - Salah or Willian - Hazard - Salah Lol..............different position, Mata has already been replaced hence why he isn't being used since he is exclusively a CAM. Don't get me wrong i love Mata but it's been pretty obvious he isn't fitting with what Jose wants to do so why keep him around? Instead reinforce a position that is crucial to his favorite formation?

Lol reading through this thread is kinda silly, people really have no idea how good this kid is. If you remember 2 years ago when Hazard came to your club, he wasn't as good as Salah is now. Hazard had horrible UCL performances especially against bigger clubs. The fact that Salah was able to show up in big matches should alone be enough to get excited over him. Also, one of Salah's biggest advantages is his speed, and in the EPL where it's a much more open game, this kid will shine. This also allows for Mourinho to play with 2 legit wingers and allow schurrle and oscar to play as CAM

Hey does anybody know if he's gonna be on that USA tour? If so I'd probably drive up to seattle to see him play
-
Nah Bundesliga is far superior to the french league, and Kagawa is no joke, he's a real star. I wouldn't say he's at Hazard's level, but give him a couple years and he'll be a superstar of the same caliber. The reason why Hazard was 40 million euros was because he is so well tuned and ready for immediate action in EPL, I feel like Kagawa needs a year of rotational play before he becomes a regular.
-
Sorry but if you've watched Hazard this season and last season, his natural postion is AM/SS with the freedom to drift to the wings. Forcing him to stay on one side of the field would be a horrible idea, he'd be so limited and contained.
-
Wouldn't you guys play a 4-2-1-3? My assumption is that if you guys do get Hulk Ramires - Essien Hazard Hulk - Torres - Mata Playing a 4-2-3-1 would work just the same, but its pretty much the same thing i posted but having the wingers play back a little more. Anybody have any idea what number he's gonna be wearing? My guess is that he'll take 11 since Drogba is on his way out.

I'm reading the reported bid was only 14 Mil and its almost official pending a physical, good young signing for them
-
Yeah it's been a messy past couple of years hah. And don't worry the same won't happen to Chelsea cuz you guys are actually spending money, we're pretty much broke! Anyways cheers fellas, thanks for the warm welcome

Hey fellas, First off I'm actually an Inter fan, but I'll be lurking around these forums nowadays since you guys signed my favorite player haha! I actually was rooting hardcore for Chelsea in the semis and final but I won't bullshit and call myself a Chelsea fan. Anyways just like to introduce myself I hope Hazard has a great career at Chelsea and I look forward to discussing various football topics with you guys! Forza Inter Pharaoh
