From 0:54 below, Lampard on Gilmour and a potential loan last night... It sounds like Lampard wants to keep Gilmour around.
-
Injury, form, rotation, COVID etc. Kovacic, Mount, Havertz, Kante etc are not superhumans. They aren't going to play every game. And Lampard already showed last season that he's not afraid to play Gilmour in Premier League games either. I made Gilmour like he's experienced? I literally just said this! Moreover, your argument about the need to send Gilmour out on loan so that his potential is not wasted could also be used for Bate. Why not send him out on loan instead so that his potential is not wasted?

Next season, maybe. This season? Hell no. Crazy to just expect Bate or Anjorin to come in and perform when we are trying to achieve something this season. Bate, Anjorin may be talented but there's a reason why they are still mostly with the academy while Gilmour is already training with the first team for over a year now. We'll have lots of games this season. Form, injuries, suspensions etc will come into play. Gilmour will get his fair share of opportunities.

Think people need to be careful with placing too much expectation on Gilmour right now. While he has shown what he can do and bring to this team, his form and performances after the restart last season also showed his shortcomings, which is not surprise given he still only 19 years old. Also, any talk of Gilmour going out loan should be thrown out of the window this season, unless we're buying someone in January. If we want to achieve things this season, then we need depth and after loaning Barkley and Loftus-Cheek out in the summer, we aren't exactly well stocked in the midfield. There are only Kante, Kovacic, Havertz, Jorginho, Mount and Gilmour. 6 players for 3 positions is just nice. And as we saw with our 2 most recent injuries, 2 wingers out injured at the same time and we're suddenly down to just 2 players for the wide areas (and 1 of them is injury prone). It could easily happen with the midfield (touch wood, fingers crossed) and if Havertz and/or Mount are/is played out wide, then that will open space for the other midfielders to play.

It's crazy that a big club like Manchester United have been eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage so many times...
-
It has been said many times but that transfer ban really was a blessing in disguise.
-
To be fair, he did do well at Crystal Palace, albeit in a team that are pragmatic and defensive under Hodgson. At a big club, more is always expected out of full backs and his limitations as well as flaws are getting exposed. Doesn't help I guess that there is also a clueless manager in charge. Hard to pinpoint anyone who has improved under Solskjaer. The ironic thing about that is Luke Shaw gets thrown to LCB from time to time and then went AWOL for Leipzig's 2nd goal yesterday.
-
The last time we went there when in form, we ended up with a 0-0 draw against Big Sam's Everton.
-
Solskjaer is the first manager of an English side to lose six of his first 10 Champions League games.
-
Even the United fans are piling on him now... https://www.redcafe.net/threads/unpopular-opinion-time-on-awb.452049/page-26

If we want to go far in this competition, we need to fix our home record in the Champions League. We have won only 3 of our last 12 home games in the competition: L 1-2 PSG W 6-0 Qarabag D 3-3 Roma D 1-1 Atletico D 1-1 Barcelona L 0-1 Valencia D 4-4 Ajax W 2-1 Lille L 0-3 Bayern D 0-0 Sevilla W 3-0 Rennes D 1-1 Krasnodar In contrast, we have won 7 of our last 12 away games in the Champions League: L 1-2 PSG W 2-1 Atletico L 0-3 Roma W 4-0 Qarabag L 0-3 Barcelona W 2-1 Lille W 1-0 Ajax D 2-2 Valencia L 1-4 Bayern W 4-0 Krasnodar W 2-1 Rennes W 4-0 Sevilla

Just watched the Leipzig goals from last night and christ, United's defending for the 2nd and 3rd goals especially was atrocious. Holes and mistakes everywhere in that defence. Also, maybe he's caught up in this whole dumpster of a fire that is United right now but Wan-Bissaka is not that great, is he? He's still young and can obviously improve but don't think he has so far since moving to Old Trafford. Look more and more defensively suspect and lack so much in his offensive game.

Think he's fine. Lampard only mentioned CHO when asked about team news on Monday. No news from the usual Chelsea journalists either.
-
At least it's only 2 weeks. We just need to escape the Everton, Wolves and West Ham games unscathed...
-
If that's the case, then Ziyech and CHO should be back in the squad for the Christmas period games. Just need to escape the Everton, Wolves and West Ham games unscathed...

If all goes well, then they should be back in time for the Christmas period games.
-
Ziyech and CHO out for 2 weeks with hamstring injury, according to Lampard.

Yeah but on the bigger picture of COVID, I wonder if we will hear stories of the long term effect of the virus down the line, especially on athletes.

This thread has turned into a part Man United thread.

Lampard clearly couldn't be arsed about the match given he just had Abraham out wide in the last 10-15 minutes or so. Also good thing that Jorginho and Kovacic did not pick up a YC. Would have been suspended for the next game otherwise.
