Would we play him though, or just loan him out?

When his and Hazards and everyone elses price is even higher - plus the "good performance at the Euros" premium to be added for our european targets! Andre Villas-Boas is not planning another bid for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian and does not expect Chelsea to see any more business in this month's transfer window. The Blues saw a £16.5million offer for Willian turned down by Shakhtar earlier this month, with the Ukrainian club refusing to budge on their valuation. The Brazil international has a £29m exit clause in his contract, but it is thought a bid in excess of £20m could be enough to prise him away from Donetsk. Willian said on Thursday he would relish the chance to join Chelsea in the Premier League, fuelling speculation the Blues could table a second bid. But manager Villas-Boas said on Friday the Londoners are unlikely to continue their interest in the 23-year-old. He said: "Willian is an extremely interesting player but I don't think we will progress with our interest because of different issues, from work permit to price valuation. "I think our project next year is more important than the actual project at the moment. Not that Willian doesn't have the characteristics for the future but we are betting a lot on what we can build on for next year." De Bruyne Villas-Boas also revealed a swoop for Genk ace Kevin de Bruyne is unlikely this month despite ongoing transfer talk linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge. But the boss says he is a likely target for the future, adding: "Kevin is a player that is not within my immediate projects. "He's a player that the club has scouted for quite some time and was interested in for quite some time. "I think Kevin is an extremely interesting player and I think it's a good bet eventually if the club finishes the situation." The Blues have made one signing this winter, capturing Gary Cahill from Bolton, and Villas-Boas is not expecting the club to secure any late deals. He added: "I don't think so. [Prices in] January are inflated and you have to take it into account."

So another window draws to a close and surprise surprise "That exciting world class attacking player (Insert your wildest dream here)" is nowhere to be seen! yet we do it to ourselves every year!
-
hark! Is that the distant sound of muted applause I hear??!!
-
Could be problems with a work permit, even if they can agree a fee apparently. But then this is chelsea and until 23:59 tuesday, you can t say for certain, anything. I think everyone feels we do need an extra attacking option for the push for Cl places
-
ssn: says chelsea are meeting with willian reps today to agree personal terms. No fee agreed yet, but its moving forward! no link yet, just what was said on the transfer update, according to a mate whos watching

Right back has been a problem area for us for years. And it hasnt been helped by the mangerial revolving door, as different managers have come in with different tactics. eg. Mourinho didnt like his full backs going past the half way line and now AVB excepts them to over lap and get crosses in, whilst making sure they get back to defend. Ivan is NOT a right back, he's a CB who can do a decent job there but he prefers CB and has said so. He's not the quickest, but is best at defending, but his crosses arent as good as Bose. Bose is better at crossing, but more inconsistant at defending. Sam - heart says yes, head says no, again he is not a SPECIALIST right back. So as hopefully AVB is here for at least the 3 years, he will continue the search for the right player. We know he will be 22-25 cos thats the AVB template. I dont think VDW is the answer, in the games I have seen he fits in the Bose category, but then thats what good coaching and training is all about

This bloke plays on the left, tracks back and and can hit a ball sweetly!
-
lads, lads relax - This is Arsenal after all. Not saying he will come to us, but we are a far more realistic option if he doesnt go else where for many many reasons. Its just deluded\shit stirring gooners - dont fall for it
-
Thats a good thing, problem with speedy players is that often thats all they rely on, then they get older or injured and they dont have any other skills to fall back on - Owen, Walcott for example
-
It's been rejected according to Futbol_Mercado on Twitter. I don't know how reliable they are, but I think thats how it translates? https://twitter.com/.../Futbol_Mercado Surely we will offer the 4 million more needed??? And then we will see if they are just talking rubbish about the release clause!
-
Thats a great article, bit disturbing that Roman is interfering again, but hey, £16.5 million is a very good price for a gamble and I like the player
-
This time Daily Mail wrote the truth. And they're back. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is attempting to drive through a move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Willian before the transfer deadline. Shakhtar claim they rejected a £16.5million bid, with chief executive Sergei Palkin confirming an offer but insisting: 'He is not for sale.' Abramovich, however, remains in dialogue with his friend, the club's billionaire owner Rinat Akhmetov. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas played down a move for the 23-year-old Brazilian last week because he is cup-tied for the Champions League. 'I don't think we should go for players who cannot be involved in all the competitions,' he said. Shakhtar paid Corinthians nearly £10m for Willian five years ago and have a release clause in his contract for £29m. Willian has been told that the club are prepared to help him achieve his dream of playing in England as long as they receive an acceptable fee. Read more: http://www.dailymail...l#ixzz1kK0LcwD8

Pssst, Jovetic is our REAL target. Remember Mata's ninja like transfer - no links, no rumours, then BAM! Willian and Hazard are just a smokescreen
-
Ahem, I am a recent FM2012 convert and god it is sooooo addictive! Yes the scouting is so good that there is rumours that real teams use it! Everyone who plays knows about Willian as he is a very good and cheap "wonderkid" 9.5 out of 10! http://footballmanagerstory.com/scout/2011/11/fm-2012-player-profile-willian/ http://footballmanagerstory.com/scout/2011/10/football-manager-2012-best-wonderkids-list/

Ha ha, love the list on the SSN Transfers "In" column Willian Hazard Krasic and erm Cahill! http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,,16426_7406110,00.html
-
reckon we will settle on £20 mill, good enough for me!
-
The curse of Twitter strikes - who to believe? http://twitter.com/#!/MilliLeaks_ Just to clarify. Shakhtar were not offered €20m for Willian today. They were asked last week if that figure was enough. No, was the answer.
-
I reckon 25 million will get him, he reminds me of Jesper the Gronk, speeedy, gets into great positions, except Willian can actually cross! I like the template we are following anyway - young (under 25) and not yet quite a star
-
If we get Willian and Hazard I will have to buy new underpants However, I think the old ones are safe, holes and all!
-
Its twitter twatter! skysports_bryan Bryan Swanson Just spoken to Shakhtar Donetsk chief. Rejected £16.6m (€20m) bid from Chelsea for Willian.
-
Seriously, how can people not see that we create plenty of chances, what was it today, 17 shots? The MOST important need we have is for a confident striker. Please, enough excuses about Torres. He's never gonna deliver Hazard would be great as well, as we need another creative outlet, but look at the stats. We dominate possession, create chances, shots on target but FAIL to convert Hell, I would take Keane right now - 2 shots - 2 goals. Instinctive goalscorers need only apply
-
Phew, just got back! We are only 3 points off the top, signed 2 young and upcoming players in the Mata\Romeu mold for peanuts on deadline day (A specialist right back back and left winger\forward) Torres got 2 consecutive hat-tricks, Luiz is playing right back and scored an amazing goal by dribbling past the entire opposing team, before being sent off. Follow me on twitter at [email protected] I wont spoil it by telling you who the new signings are but McGarry really DOES have inside info garbosj Ian McGarry Yes, #AFC and RM are interested in Hazard but #CFC offering best contract. » garbosj Ian McGarry Hazard wants to join #CFC in Jan. Lille want him to stay until summer. Possible fee has been dicussed but no agreement yet. Still time. Oh Someone dies in a fire in Corrie and theres a murder In Walford
-
'The options available are overpriced, we have full belief in what we have, we are not panicking, we spoke about a forward but its not a necessity, it's not impossible that we won't buy but we will see,' said Villas-Boas.
-
That says to me, "yes we are trying, but has to be the right player at the right price" "but we're not that bovvered if we dont get anyone!" (Secretly yes we are!)
