I nominate option "pricks". Gosh there should be a primer about the transfer. There is so much BS and propaganda from that week that is still swirling around and I'm afraid that they will define "the truth". The first one is this Fake Interview This interview is the one most like to bash Torres with--"he promised to stay and then handed in his transfer request three weeks later!" Except a few on the Liverpool boards did some checking to verify the story and no one could. Even the official Liverpool site wouldn't carry the article because they couldn't confirm its veracity. No one could verify an exclusive interview given by one of the most famous footballers in England. And why the hell would Torres talk to People? He didn't say these things post-game or a press conference where the entire media can report it, no he talked exclusively to People and the story was then repeated by all the other outlets. And read some of the quotes, as if Torres talks like that in English? He said: “Morally, it would be enormous to eliminate United at Old Trafford, although it will not be easy.” “Who is culpable for our defeats? The coach and the players but it is possible to change things round. So having pretty much sussed out the interview as fake, a handful of Liverpool fans posted this info on the boards. Not that it made any difference because you still have morons pointing to this article to justify their righteous anger over Torres' transfer. He said he loved us only weeks before! David Maddock wrote a scathing article about how Torres wouldn't talk to the English press this season (can you blame him?). And he hasn't. He'll do the post-game chit chats for a minute or two, the team press conferences, etc but I can't remember the last time he did an exclusive interview with an English-based journalist. Just because they write ABOUT him doesn't mean he's talking to them on a one-on-one basis. No coincidence that the most comprehensive article about his transfer was written by Sid Lowe, who is English but resides in Madrid and covers La Liga. He is fluent in Spanish and has interviewed Torres many times before, going back to his Atletico days. The article wasn't an interview but clearly with the perspective and information that Lowe had, he obviously had direct contact with Torres and/or his management. So, Liverpool fans, if you're pointing to a fake interview to back up your argument, it's pretty lame-o. Tomorrow, we'll dissect point #2: "Torres only gave us 3 days notice!"

I'd have sent her to bed without dinner and taken the three shirts back. What's her size by the way? I can PM you my address. Carlo will have to make sure Torres is on the pitch at the 83rd against the Spurs then.
-
Apparently Torres played on the wing for a bit when he was at Atletico but he was in early 20's then and in a different league. In the English game for the last 4 years his comparative advantage is to be in the middle of the pitch.
-
As a Torres fan, I watched a lot of Liverpool games this season and Joe Cole looks shockingly unfit. He was usually bent over after 15 minutes or so. Does he smoke?
-
Who thinks Ancelotti is twisting Rednapp's melon with the whole Drogba and Torres must play together statement? Just having him worry for a week? Wouldn't be surprised if the same lineup as the few games. I would worry about the midfield against Tottenham's midfield. Having Torres and Drogba could result in huge balance issues.
-
Just have to keep a level head and remember that it's one goal. There are only 4 games left so I'm not expecting ( but would love) a great scoring run. Especially if Ancelotti keeps him as a supersub. Ultimately there is still the core question of how much Chelsea's style of play can get out of Torres. I do expect him to play with a lot more confidence and joy now. A miracle needs to happen in order for Chelsea to pass ManU....

Sometimes when I hear about how Torres won't ever be loved like he was in Liverpool, I suspect what Liverpool fans really mean is that they'll never love another player like they did Torres. But that may be too difficult to admit so it's back to bashing Torres and going on and on about how they don't even care anymore. Look at how Stamford Bridge celebrated Torres' goal. If he works hard and bangs in the goals, he'll do just fine. He doesn't have a celebrity personality or lifestyle but look at the attention he generates. It's not a coincidence that he's beloved at Atletico and was at Liverpool while he was there. He's a quiet one but he's got star quality. I have no doubts Suarez and maybe to a lesser extent, Carroll will do well at Liverpool. I'm not quite sure they'll generate the same type of adulation on a global basis like Torres did.

I put Youtube link in the David Luiz thread earlier today.
-
Come on, we can discuss this game without stuff like that...
-
Oops, apologies. I see, you mean Luiz' hair is amazingly shit. Got it
-
Now you're contradicting your love of shitty hair. Which is it?
-
You would, wouldn't you. Look at your avatar.
-
What's his shape? Oblong? Yes, I'd say the shape of your face does dictate the style of your haircut. Clearly some haircuts do not work for some shapes. You admit to liking shitty haircuts?
-
He's very modest. He knows he's too good looking so he always strives for the shittiest haircuts possible. If he had a proper haircut, he would radiate.

There was one point where David was caressing Lampard's cheek while he was talking!

Pacheco's full "apology". Sad that he has justify why he's congratulating a friend and mentor. All of which says a lot about the characters of Pacheco, Torres and the idiots who jumped on the boy's back. I’m just happy for him, thats all, dont wanna get in trouble with anybody, he helped me outside of football, in general life, thats all. Sorry if someone didnt like what i said before, i took it off. im just happy as a person, as a young boy, who came to england, and a Spanish hero helped me a lot, more that what anyone could think, so im just happy for him, for his life, for his family, thats all. I love lfc and I wanna play for LFC, THATS ALL. Daniel Pacheco about Fernando Torres, on twitter.

I was watching and laughing at Luiz so much it was like Nando and Lampard were saying, "blah, blah, blah."
-
Yes, Torres' technique, like his first touch is maddeningly inconsistent. It's also why he struggles with Spain's game. I've thought this for awhile, if his technique was very good, not even great, he would be up there with Messi and Ronaldo. He's a fantastic athlete with a great nose for the goal but is slightly limited technically. Though this is in comparison to his Spanish teammates, Messi, Ronaldo, Dutch superstars, etc. He's still able to do things many in the PL can only dream about.
-
The boy is loco! Even gets Nando to laugh.
-
Yep. Malouda scored a great goal so it doesn't matter now but that situation is bread and butter to Nando. At Liverpool, he most certainly would have gotten it back. Just think he could have gotten a brace today along with an assist--the pass to Anelka was fantastic. Anelka really should have slotted that one away.

It may work if Torres is clearly the middle striker and Drogba is happy to stay wide and roam behind Torres. Think there was a reason why Torres played so well in his cameo today-coming on FOR Drogba rather than to play with him was a big factor. Torres seemed more at ease. I think when he's on the pitch with Drobga, he tends to withdraw and then he can't play his natural game. And look how instinctive he was with his goal, that's a pure striker there. Defenders, water puddles and he calmly readjusted to shoot with his left (he's very righted footed). You want Torres in his happy element, then he produces. From what we've seen so far, I don't think he is in his happy place with Drogba on the pitch. If that's the case, as much as I love Torres, I'd rather he come on as a sub for Drogba against Tottenham.
-
It's the same fans who fell for the club PR campaign to slime Torres during the transfer saga. Funny how over 3 years he was there, he was an icon but within hours of the transfer request, there were plenty of anonymous sources within the dressing room about how Torres wasn't liked and how he was a detriment to team spirit. So you have fans who fall for this crap and see Torres as a cartoon villain and they react in the same cartoonish manner. God forbid his Liverpool teammates don't feel the same way. The fact is everyone from Atletico, Liverpool and now Chelsea has said he's a very quiet guy but is a very good professional. He's never going to win any awards for best personality but he's always had a good rep for being a decent guy off the pitch. Torres taking care of Pacheco isn't a surprise. Kun Aguero said the same thing about his arrival at Atletico from Argentina at only 18 years old. .
-
Truly pathetic. Don't care about what they're saying about Torres now, I'm going to enjoy this day 100%. But giving abuse to a young man is so classless. Dani was a teammate of Torres, a very young man away from Spain, who rightly looked up to his older Spanish teammate. I heard Torres and his wife were really nice to him and gave one of their cars to him when he got his license. Why shouldn't he congratulate Torres? Stupid. I hope Pacheco makes his loan away from Liverpool permanent and goes onto bigger and better things elsewhere. I guess Pepe Reina won't be able to say nice things about Torres anymore.
-
Coulda been two assists if Anelka had slotted his chance in as well. Wonderful ball to Torres from Anelka. That's exactly what you want to see all through the game. Slide it in, Torres will run onto and do his job. It doesn't always work but do it a few times a game and he'll convert enough of them.
-
His official site will have it up very shortly. It has almost every goal he's ever scored. God, Torres needs to play WH every week. Six games, six goals.
