If they want to put up a more realistic proposition all fine, it's their right but why lie and say something else initially, ah right because Rui Costa wouldn't even bother with this 85M. If someone told me he was gonna pay me close to 120M in installments to come to the table and after discuss, waste my time for 3 days and show up with 85M I would be very angry as well. Despite us tapping the player, which would make anyone mad, Costa was willing to let that go and continue discussions and after you lie like an idiot about the numbers as well. If I was Costa I'd sell him for 80M in the summer to someone else.

No it's not is shady tactics, I've never heard of such bullshit in business, you don't piss off people you negotiate with by inventing different numbers from the ones you set out initially, this just make you look like a mug and a man with no honor, what sort of credence can someone have in you if you show up with different numbers to the ones you told them beforehand to get them to sit at the table.
-
You do this at the start of the negotiations not at the end when the buyer is like but you said you want to pay the tag price. Be fair and square, let him know you want to negotiate at a lower price, don't fucking waste his time telling you want the tag price to put him on the table and after lowball, this is embarrassing shit.

Do you still not understand the problem? The main problem is the American verbally told Benfica we we're willing to pay the 120M, Benfica came to the table BECAUSE of this, they we're willing to negotiate instead of buyout knowing Boehly told them an offer around 120M was on the table. The negotiations and time wasting happened because Benfica was told something and as soon as they discussed Boehly came up with other numbers 85M. Of course they got pissed off and rightfully so, what kind of shady shit is this. Why didn't Boehly simply say, listen I want us to come to the table an discuss a price around 85-90M for Enzo but of course he didn't do this because Benfica wouldn't even turn up for negotiations. The reality is the American wasted Rui Costa's time, wasted Enzo's time, waste Mendez time and wasted all our time. What a shady ass business work this is.
-
The people working at the club drag the club through the mud not me, some of you are in denial mode, everyone reports the same shit, when you think about it, the story also matches perfectly why Benfica suddenly want buyout clause after initially being willing to negotiate.
-
No I'm not ok, if you seriously think a businessman let alone a billionaire can be so stupid. Do you understand what keeping word means? If you weren't planning to pay the 120M all fine but don't lie like a pig, put people to come to the table with the intention of paying 120M and after lowball with different numbers. This is absolutely embarrassing stuff no way you turn it.

With this scenario and right after the competition, they made their first meeting with Benfica. The Portuguese club made it clear to them: they paid the €120 million of the exit clause, which had to be in a single installment, and they kept it. However, Chelsea made a verbal counter-offer: it stated that it was willing to invest 127 million euros, but on payment in several installments. After deliberating for several days and accepting the Argentine's request to make the leap to the Premier League, president Rui Costa opened the doors to negotiations. Negotiations began days before the New Year and were stalled for the holidays without an agreement yet. Chelsea didn't even correct Enzo's contract because they knew it wouldn't be a problem, as they knew his salary at Benfica and could easily improve it. On Monday, January 2nd, the clubs resumed their dialogue: Benfica was waiting for the structure of a complex operation to be set up. What does this means? Of those 127 million euros that Chelsea said it would pay, how much would it be in a first payment, installments and how much money would it be in goals. However, the English -always verbally- changed the conditions and the club that owned Enzo's pass issued an ultimatum: everything had to be resolved within 48 hours. Both on Tuesday, the 3rd, and on Wednesday, the 4th, they met in person in long meetings that ended until dawn in Europe. Yesterday, Chelsea (the negotiation was led by sporting director Christopher Vivell and everything was accompanied by Todd Boehly, the English owner of the club) informally made a proposal to Benfica: 90 million euros to be paid in four installments and the possibility of having players of soccer in the middle of the operation. The Portuguese, revolted, returned to the initial position of rescission clause or nothing and said that the decision was engraved in stone. And they ended the meeting. In this way, the operation is dead today, unless the English review their plans and get the footballer to execute the exit clause, an amount they are not willing to spend. The state of this club, no doubt expected the owner to blunder this somehow but Vivell being just as pathetic.

Nah Boehly still does the negotiatons I think certaintly had input in that lowball.
-
Hopefully Benfica report us to FIFA for tapping up the player and the owner deserves to be humiliated for being a clown.
-
That's exactly what they planned to do and accept thus the discussions and meetings but that dumb cunt backtracked on his verbal agreement and lowballed smh.
-
I swear I'm so furious when I read this again and again. Can't believe these fucking amateur cunts.
-
Club with no vision, no future, dumb people running it, it's over stick a fork in us.
-
Pay what you promised you utterly pathetic American.
-
No shit they are unhappy, what a fucking moron this owner.
-
We will get Sangare and Alvarez.
-
I'm so happy we missed spending out 120m on Enzo now we can buy 2-3 bang average player for that price, we will have the numbers at least!
-
Rui Costa told Enzo that going to Chelsea was wrong for a player who had just won the World Cup and that “more prestigious and better organized clubs” would arrive in the summer, advances @DuncanCastles Enzo was not convinced and asked to leave for Chelsea.
-
Hope so, this idiot is an absolute joke of a businessman. Basically killed everything Roman had done in all these years. Wonder how Roman feels watching this trash, probably angry and disappointed.
-
Tell this to our idiot owner who thought he is smart lowballing because the player wanted the move.
-
Horseshit man, all reports I saw today all said the same fucking thing, Enzo wanting the move and missing training, made smarty pants American think he can get him cheaper so he backtracked like a complete clown and Benfica when they saw this got rightfully pissed.
-
They didn't fucking knew because Chelsea told them it would be 120m and now lowballed. This guy reliable as far as I know and practically confirms this.
-
The only reason this guy wasn't eating at the same table with the other clowns is because his connection most likely was aware Chelsea was gonna lowball.
-
All these ITK turds may be lying attention seekers but this time all of them reported that we were willing to pay the release clause which was true even Benfica believed this when they started sitting at the tables discussing but now idiot American changed his mind and showed other numbers, now all ITK look like idiots but in reality there is only one idiot and that's our owner.
-
The negotiation between Benfica and Chelsea got stuck. There was no agreement after 3 meetings. Chelsea did not arrive at the amount with which they had started the negotiation. There is no other meeting scheduled for the next few days -for now-. FUCKING CONFIRMATION that Benfica came at the table with one offer and after Chelsea tried to lowball.
