Could this be the new Chelsea home kit?

It has been quite the unexpected season so far for manager Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side. For the reigning Premier League champions it was almost a given that they would be back this year fighting to retain their title. However, plenty has gone awry at the London club which has seen them consistently slip down the table ever since the season began.

In the past few months Chelsea have been hit by a number of shocking results that has found them languishing down in 14th place thanks to just 4 wins out of their first 15 games. Even more surprising is the fact that now even Mourinho himself is now conceding the fact that perhaps supporters should not be expecting the blues to make a top 6 finish this season.

There are many reasons as to why Chelsea are having a terrible season so far and we’re not quite sure a simple kit change is going to make much of a difference at this stage. However just recently a new trio of strips which Chelsea are expected to be worn during the 2016/17 season have been leaked, and it just seems to be another indication that all eyes are firmly on the future more so than the remainder of this rather lacklustre campaign.

For a team that managed to claim the title last season by 8 clear points no-one could have predicted theclub would be in such disarray by the Christmas period. So how beneficial will a fresh design and a new look have on the club and how does it stack up against the current 2015/16 Chelsea kits? The first thing you notice about the rumoured new Adidas home kit is the inclusion of a number of the club’s lion symbol peppered around the shirt. The away Chelsea shirt is expected to be in white whilst a not-so-impressive third kit will be made up of a black, grey and yellow design.

The new home kit also includes three white stripes along the side and the word “Tyres” has thankfully been dropped from the club’s Yokohama sponsor logo. It’s certainly a neater and more traditional looking kit, even though the lion print does look a little too templated but it’s clearly an Adidas trademark in their shirt designs which can be spotted on a number of other kit creations worn by other teams across Europe. But whether it will actually inspire the team and have any impact on the side actually carving out any much needed victories is still yet to be seen.
