Mourinho confirms Ivanovic is not for sale

Jose Mourinho has made it clear to Paris Saint-Germain that Branislav Ivanovic is not for sale.

"PSG has not contacted Chelsea. And if there was any interest, it was not official," Mourinho told reporters at a press conference.

"As coach of leaders we have a responsibility to lead the club, and we are very clear about this: There is no chance to see Ivanovic leave Chelsea this summer."

Ivanovic is a highly prized centre back who is also capable of playing at right-back, PSG are looking to strengthen their back line and have already wrapped up a five-year deal for Lille left-back Lucas Digne for a fee of £12.9m, adding Ivanovic would have given them a really strong back line as they already have Thiago Silva, considered by many as the best defender in the world.

Branislav Ivanovic has been an instrumental player for the Blues and famously scored the last gasp winner against SL Benfica in Amsterdam which crowned Chelsea as the Europa League Champions.

The fact that Jose chose to talk about this rumor in his press conference is a statement by the club that Chelsea will NOT sell key players for any price and are immune to the many millions of some clubs like PSG and Monaco.

I'm actually really curious as to how Ivan will be deployed now. My memory is awful, but I'm pretty sure he never got to play under Mourinho as he was bought after his departure, yes?

All I know is Jose is smart enough (I hope) to not partner him with Cahill - ever. I'd rather a Schwarzer - Cahill/Ivanovic partnership, as unorthodox as that would be.
