  1. the spine of cech terry lampard drogba is ledgondary , does it really matter who ranks who where. at the same time though you cant just look at stats , it was very very rare that drogba's scored goals that didn't make much of a difference to a result. he gave our entire team confidence in a big game because there was ALLWAYS a drogba moment.

  2. i dont get why we have gone from one exstreme to the next , from a team full of over 30 players to getting rid of all of them , the best players that are 30 or over and still puting in the perforances should get there rewards regardless of age within reson. Lampards 34 and doesint really fit our new system very well , so a 1 year exstention makes sence , what doesint make sence is offering just a 1 year deal to ashely cole.

  3. Lampard is a perfectly good choice if we are setting up for the counter attack , but i feel that his play lets us down when we are trying to play possession football , all our other midfielders are better than him with one touch pass and move. mikel + lampard is too slow for build up play generaly.

  4. I would agree if this wasn't Moses debut. Had Moses started and had a bad game, RDM would get slated for starting an inexpirienced debutante in a derby match. In fact had a couple of decisions in the first half went the way they should have and we ran out as winners today, we would be saying that Roberto did well to play Ryan and Rami on the wings to absorb QPR's enthusiasm at home.

I partly agree with you , had we got a pen and scored and then aobsorbed QPR's pressure we'd have applauded the tactics , however in the 2nd half we were overrun in midfield , torres couldint hold the ball up and cech kept giving the ball back to the opposition , RDM waited far far far too long to change things that were clearly not working.

  5. I can't believe how much you're underrating Mata. He is a class player and at his best is almost as good as Silva. He is only 24 so can get better.

imo mata's just as good as silva , both players were great last season , silva looked better in a championship winning team. this season mata has better players around him so we'll see what happens.

  6. I like that lineup, but I doubt RDM will rotate much. From what I've seen from Robbie, he doesn't like to change his starting 11 a lot. No way he will start Azpi and Moses but I would expect them later on in the game depending on the result and match itself.

As I said in my post above, it would be great to see Danny get a run. It's a shame to see him on the bench :(

not a chance , you'd have to be insane to drop torres after finaly he looks like hes regainning his confidence and form. sturrage just needs to man up and bide his time. thats what you need to do at the top clubs. he'll get his chance once the cup games come round, just not gonna risk him vs juvi.

  7. lets not panic , remmeber in the league were it matters , we're 9 points from a possible 9. sure newcastle reading and wigan are not world beaters , but manchester united have proved over the years that beating the lesser teams is how you win the league , not the top 4 mini league.

this team can break tight defences and break them well. we will solid up the defence as the season goes on.

  8. May I ask everyone criticizing on here one thing? Would you write the same things about our players before yesterday's game? They had a bad game and this doesn't influence their overall talent. If they continue to perform badly, then I will consider critizing their abilities.

na I think we're solid and in a much much better position than last season , I just dont like mikel and lampard being played together.

  9. its not really a case of parking the bus against teams , we play 4-3-3 ususaly , that means you defend in a 4-5-1 , when barcalona have the ball most of the time , that means we're gonna have 8 guys back with two players ready to burst forward when we gain possession.

with only 10 men what exactly you ment to do? lol , your forced to play 4-5-0

so many teams try to emulate the defensive game we brought and fail , too many people think its a case of sit infront of your goal with 8 players , most teams fail and drop too far deep so cant get the ball far enough away to relieve pressure.

what made our defensive game so good was the likes of ramires bursting forward getting the ball away, drogba tanking up front. just few seem to appresiate that side of the game and act like it makes us shit.

in any other sport 4 shots on target 3 goals = your accracy is extreme

  10. Surely Spain won't call Mata up for the confederation's cup at the end of this season? If they do then his fitness will become a huge huge issue. What is the point of that cup? can't they turn it into an under 21 world cup or something?

Personally i think we should have let him go on holiday for 3 weeks after the Newcastle match, come back the day before QPR or something.

If he went on holiday for 3 weeks theres no way he could play returning a day before a game. he'd need a weeks trainning at the minimum.

  11. forget stats , mata playing deeper is whats made our attack much much much better allready , instead of the ball going from mikel > Lampard > mata > drogba , its going mikel >mata>hazard at a faster tempo.

scholes stats would make him seem an average midfielder , but in his prime was problaby the best playmaker in english football.

  12. Di Matteo wants to have a defensive winger in his side at all times because he prefers a balanced approach.

thats fair enough , but is that the only reson ramires has been playing RW? , I suspect having ramires and lampard as the cm's would be much better than mikel and lampard , however its a question of wother or not lampard and ramires can cover each other when one goes forward. with mikel you've got the secruty in a safe pair of hands at the job.

I just feel ramires engine is waisted on the wing when we've been having problems with the middle being overrun.

  13. Hello Chelsea fans! I've been researching online for the most informative and involved Chelsea forum - and this seems to be the best one!

I'm a newly declared Chelsea fan, and this will be the first year that I plan to intensely follow the Premier League and Chelsea. I got addicted to the PL during the last third of the 2011/2012 season, and ended up cheering for Chelsea in the Champions League. I've enjoyed watching football my whole life, but I've never devoted enough time to become familiar with tactics, transfers, and everything else.

I hope to watch every Chelsea game this year, and started by getting up at 06:30 this morning to watch Chelsea play at Wigan!

    Hello from Canada!

Welcome :) , I'm both a chelsea and Penguins fan so maybe you'll be indifferent to me lol

  14. ---------Cech-------

    Ivan--Cahill--Luiz--Cole

    ----Essien----Meireles--

    Sturridge--Oscar--Hazard

    ----------Torres----------

We have another game on Saturday so there's a need to rotate and keep a couple players fresh.

I'm interested to see how Essien does this season with proper rest and a injury free preseason under his belt.

  15. I think the team done well , theres alot of things we need to work on but with a bunch of new players trying to gel , fitness issues due to pre season being interupted and other factors i'll take a 2-0 comfortable win any day. i think we will improve alot after the first month or so once the players are sharper.

  16. Lampard was one of the better players in the Premier League last season and was a key to us winning anything. He has been the best player to ever play for Chelsea. The complete lack of respect for Lampard on here is disturbing. Respect, not based on what he has done for us a decade, but respect based on what he still does for us. Some people want the team to be made up entirely of 19 year olds or something. No, Lampard is not going to do some fancy back-heel pass or make a blazing run, but individual plays like that are always overrated. Lampard is going to distribute the ball well, will be our best penalty taker, be a leader, and try his hardest. How can you say he's only after personal glory? He's taking the penalty because he's our best penalty taker. He's one of the best ever in that regard. This is about Chelsea trying to win, not about us trying to build Torres' confidence.

I agree lampard is our best penalty taker , he's proved that time and time again, reminds me when lampard took a penilty against wigan instead of drogba , when the title is on the line you pick the best guy for the job . if it was 3-0 allready thats when you can start to have some fun.

My only issue with lampard is the worry that when you have both mikel and lampard in the midfield it just doesint seems to slow our attack down. but then again I cant see our other CM's doing any better in that regard. something the team have to work on anyway , impressed with the speed hazard and mata get the ball up front, something we've had trouble with for a while now.
