I really don't see this argument. There is no way in hell that he DIDN'T commit two bookable offences by then. He was rightfully off, the first United goal was close enough that we can't blame that on the ref either. The fact of the matter is that Chelsea lost this tie for themselves. We need a major overhaul this summer, and although I'm typically not too fast to go there, I think at this point it has to be discussed that Ancelotti no longer manages with the skill and adaptability that he used to have. The subs today point that out more than anything. I don't even care if Alex was carrying a knock or Carlo didn't want him to play the full match. THAT'S TOO DAMNED BAD. Put Benayoun on, press high, and GO FOR THE FUCKING GAME. We need a manager who can change things up to a Plan B, C, or even D when the super-obvious Plan A runs into trouble, or gets found out in the case of this season.

Sorry to say it but Anelka should have never played. Drogba should have been on in his place, and that goal would have never happened. Anelka fell asleep when he was the last man on the flank, and Chelsea was punished for it. Game and tie almost certainly over, and it's starting to seem like it was all Ancelotti's fault.

Pretty much identical to my list of ins and outs, except that I don't think Henderson will leave Sunderland until he's broken into the England side in earnest, and I STILL want Aguero more badly than them all right now. A healthy Drogba-Aguero pairing or (ideally) Lukaku/Aguero pairing has success written all over it, as long as the defense gets strengthened first.

I'm going to go ahead and throw this out there... Zhirkov and Ramires are quite possibly the worst two players on the pitch next to Ferreira right now. Should have played Zhirkov-Kakuta/Josh-Mikel and Bruma in the back. I just don't see how Carlo could POSSIBLY think this midfield three is going to work. This is the worst Chelsea have looked all season, next to last Sunday, and look at who was in the midfield for those games.....

Fantastic show from the boys today, it was mostly a joy to watch the dirty Gooners get run up and down the field. It'll be interesting to see how Wenger reacts to Walcott's terrible game and the poor display overall. With Arsenal pretty much out of the title race, it's important to keep Drogba and Terry healthy and not drop any points until we take on Manure.

I'm sure this has been realized but I thought I'd vocalize it. Michael Essien completely marked Steven Gerrard out of the game, in every way. With Liverpool missing Mascherano they had nothing, which is of course about how much Lucas can do at any point of the game. Great game Chelsea, and once Torres fell off (since the ball was in the middle or on the other end most of the time), the game was ours to take. It's like a bloody holiday right now. I agree that he's one of our better players today, but not best, or close, he seems to be a step behind lately and some of his touches would be comedic in a pub league. He's a good player, sure, but there is surely someone out there who would be a better fit? Possibly Zhirkov, as long as he's out on the left of the midfield core he would be right at home.
