To get away from all the manager talk (well the new Chelsea manager talk) when Big Sam said he would win the double everytime at Chelsea, Man.Utd, Barcelona or Madrid he got laughed at and not taking seriously at-all.

BUT Avram Grant took 2 clubs who should have finished comfortably mid table down while Big Sam managed Blackburn and Bolton both were pretty poor when he took over and overachieved massively with them taking Bolton into Europe with a squad that cost less than £10 million.

So im just thinking if Avram could get us to a Champions League final and within 2 points off the top surely Big Sam would not do as bad at a big club as people like to make out? (and no i do NOT want him as our next manager for the record)

Well who knows. We've got money and we've god good players. He would certainly have the material required to build and archive what he wants. But, what's very important in our club is to earn the respect of players and have them dying on the pitch every time for you. Carlo unfortunately didn't archive that

jose , Carlo and hiddink couldn't get us there and the team was hardly conference standard with them

While Grant did well to steady the ship so to speak i cant help but be annoyed about how we ended up trophyless that season.

The Carling Cup he got his tactics horribly wrong, picking Anelka and Bridge over both Cole's.

The FA Cup all the big boys were out, Pompey were our biggest challengers and we go and lose to fucking Barnsley.

The champions league final while the slip was not Grant's fault, not moving Drogba on to test a limping Ferdinand and keeping Sheva on the bench was.

The premier league we should have won easily, 10 points dropped in injury time? un-acceptable.

The team as a whole was at its peak that year how we ended up with nothing still to this day infuriates me.

Ballack, Terry & Drogba were the managers when Jose' left, Avram just put the cones out.

He inherited Jose's squad and one of the best teams in Europe. This current squad however, isn't good enough.
