Kinda disagree. On paper, we have the talent to rival those teams but on the pitch, for one reason or another, they aren't performing to a high level that they can or should be.

disagree

Mason Mount   (not a huge scorer)
Kai Havertz
Hakim Ziyech   (has moments, but he has NEVER come close to the Ajax days)
Christian Pulisic   (has overall been a bust IMHO)
Callum Hudson-Odoi   (has his moments but is hardly a consistent scorer at all)
Romelu Lukaku
Timo Werner

we have overrated players (atm) for the most part who never put up big EPL numbers other than Rom at times, and the big dig on him was he feasted on poor teams

Werner presents problems with his deep runs, but he is terrible shooter

Kai is arguably our best offensive player, but has yet to truly explode

RLC and Barkley are CMF's with poor, poor end product when they play advanced roles

That is why I said on paper, we rival those teams but on the pitch, we aren't because our players don't perform to a high level that they can or should be.

What I meant by "on paper" is just looking in general terms.

But yes, if you go deeper and look into the stats on paper, it's obvious others higher because their players perform consistently.

just thus year

Bayern has the following production (tracking over a full season)

simply doubling:

Sane 22 goals, 22 assists

Müller 16 goals 34 assists (insanity at his age)

Lewa 60 (maybe more) goals, 6 assists

then

Jamal Musiala (if he played 3800 or so minutes) 24 goals, 20 assists

Gnabry, if played a full season minutes, tracks to 33 goals, 21 assists

Coman, if a reduced season (as there just are not enough minutes to go round), but more minutes than now, would still be around 16 goals and 8 assists

we have NOTHING like that

and none of those Bayern minutes are remotely close to the crazy amounts CR7 and Messi played at their peak, well over a thousand less in some cases, over 2000 less in Coman's case

to get to those numbers, all but Lewa and Müller are under 4000, and those 2 are barely above

Messi was rocking 5000 to 5200 or so minutes at times when he was at peak (and if counting all preseason, comps and national team games, around 6000 in a couple seasons)
