Great article on the chels here about the latest rumours about a stadium move, usually when they claim to have a source it tends to be fairly reliable as they are fairly in the loop for an independant website.

From there choices the bbc white city site would be the more acceptable option still west london (W12) good transport links and no doubt piss qphahaha off no end if we moved there, make no mistake it will happen its when not if.

We couldn't sell out 41871 seats for a Champions League knock-out game earlier this month, so I'm not overly convinced we need a bigger ground just yet. I don't think we should move, ever. Redevelopment is awkward because of health and safety regulations, but we could knock down one of the hotels and add a third tier to the Shed for about 3,000 more seats?

I don't even think we're allowed to move. Pitch Owners own the rights to the Chelsea FC name, if they want, they could keep our name & force us to change it  . I'm sure there's a way for Roman to buy the rights back though I think? Not sure on the finer details of it.

I don't think that this is the most important thing atm..I would rather see us sign some younger players..And start bringing young players through academy..We don't have revenue of Arse and Man utd, but on pitch performances can bring you money too..via awards and sponsorship deals..

I agree with a lot of the above posters, especially eldo! I think what we need to be doing is investing some of the money in improving the squad and reducing the age range. Inject more money into out youth academy, and also buy a couple of quality players to replace those who are ageing a bit.

While we have that in mind, I don't think there's time to either build a new stadium, or make extensions to Stamford Bridge.

Good point.

We barely sell out Stamford Bridge as it is. It's not like a bigger stadium is the only way to increase revenue (as eldo has pointed out)

If we did get a bigger stadium. What do you think the chances of ticket prices coming down would be? It might bring back some of the fans that used to go to every game before the ticket bump up. But i guess that would all depend on the size of the stadium.

Heart says stay at Stamford Bridge for ever, head says we might end up having to look elsewhere eventually.

My main concern about moving stadiums is that 4 or 5 years down the line we end up with a flash stadium named after a brand or an airline, beautiful stadium with plenty of internationals played there but when the shit hit's the fan every single Chelsea fan will still be pining for the Bridge (similar to Arsenal fans with the Emirates-Highbury).

Expanding the Bridge is not an option. It's discussed every 3-4 months and people should have got it by now.

Do we? I was under the impression that most of the times that we don't sell out it's due to the away fans.

I'm not going to pretend I'm sentimental over this as I've never been to the Bridge. Building a new stadium is absolutely vital to maintaining our place in English and European football.

The club is a business. Stamford Bridge is home and will always be so, but we must understand that the club can't lag behind the likes of United and Arsenal when it comes to gate receipts.

If we can find an ideal site in terms of capacity, location, transport etc, we must go for it. Fans will benefit because an increased capacity stadium will reduce ticket prices considerably.

agree ..competely ...sentiment is fine ,,,we are capable of filing a larger stadium for our PL games ...in the long term we can't afford to give our rivals

such a financia advantage.Since the Bridge can't be expanded then we must move ...

Dont think that can happen, similar thing to Leyton Orient and the Olympic stadium. If it did we would probably be sharing with QPR. In an ideal world we could knock down the hotel and build a proper shed end, but there are problems with all exits leading to one road.

Also ticket prices may go down slightly, and maybe more concessions but not nearly enough to bring in 60000 every week.

I read somewhere that Stamford Bridge can't be extended due to lack of space. We are one of the few teams in England that never changed our stadium. And if we left it wouldn't feel like home anymore. So they should try all the options before considering a move.
