BlueLion. 21,491
You might think its down to the players and not the manager, but Avram Grant has equalled the record set by Jose Mourinho. Mourinho's first 28 matches at Chelsea saw the Blues win 21 times, draw five and lose just two fixtures, and now Avram Grant has repeated this feat. Whether it is down to the squad or not, its a pretty good record.
Aesthetic Relic 301
I really find that hard to take in This guy is the definition of falling in shite and coming up smelling of roses At the end of the day we're in there where it matters. The squads far better prepared this year to cope with injuries etc....so in a way it doesnt really surprise me.
Layla 0
Steve Clarke!! Nah gotta give the guy credit, thought as soon as Jose went we'd slip down the table and struggle to get into the top 4 lol.Good record.Shows the quality and spirit of the squad we have to Then again Jose only lost one prem game...shutting up now lol If we can win the Carling cup under Grant then think people again will sit up and take notice considering we've got there with so many injuries and ACN

Fulham Broadway 17,364
It makes me laugh, some of the terminology -''Grants Chelsea'' , ''Chelsea Under Grant'' From the Times; ''Staff at the club’s Cobham training ground and dressing-roomconfirm that it is easier to state with conviction what Grant does not contribute, rather than what he does. Even some of the players are unsure. The Israeli has little involvement in training, with Steve Clarke, the assistant first-team coach, planning and taking almost all the sessions single-handedly until Henk ten Cate was appointed to work alongside him in October, and often lets his underlings administer prematch and half-time team talks, with Clarke issuing the rallying cry that helped Chelsea to come from behind to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage on New Year’s Day. '' It's obvious from his press conferences, and Post match interviews that he is clueless, and just tries to sneakily convince he knows what hes doing and is in charge. He is a well paid figure head, nothing else. Indeed I think we would have fared a lot worse had he actually got involved.

.Cee 50
I wont even comment on the topic, like Ive said before comparing Jose and Grant is like comparing Prada with the Pound Shop. Err, you just did... Doesn't matter if the Prada and the Pound Shop come up with the same quality tho. People would've been blaming the injuries, suspensions and the African Cup if Jose were here and is getting the same results.

People would've been blaming the injuries, suspensions and the African Cup if Jose were here and is getting the same results. Seeing as the results havent been bad, why would we be looking for excuses? Maybe because we just know the quality's not the same? Y'see the thing about cheap goods is they look ok for a while but eventually, after a bit of wear and tear, you realise its a false economy and you should've had the best to start with. Fulham Broadway 17,364
Its not thats Grant is crap, we just dont know. He doesn't do anything at all of any significance. He cant be praised and he cant be condemned . He just wanders around like some Scooby Doo janitor, occasionally stopping folding his arms and staring broodily. He gives meaningless drivel to the media now and again with contradictions. You'll see him with a bit more confidence now the press seem to have warmed to him a bit, but he'll cleverly stay out of any decision making. Not bad for £4.5 million a year. EskWeston 696
I wish the Mourinho comparison would just stop. They are so pointless it is crazy. Jose did wonders for our club and he brough untold success to us and built a fantastic team, he will rightly always be remembered for that. However we are in a new era now that so far is working better than anyone would have expected. Why compare it to the Jose era, nothing good can come of doing that. DavidEU 2,023
I'm a bit confused about the whole Grant-slating thing. He was offered the job - he wasn't going to say no was he? Who would? Yes, he's not Jose, but he's doing a good job. 1 defeat in his last 27 games I think, 4 points off the top, CC Final, qualified from a tough-ish CL group, and still in the FA Cup. He wasn't the fans ideal replacement, but he was given the job, and theres nothing we can do to change that. He's done an excellent job up to now, in a difficult time for the club. Alot of people expected us to crumble, but we haven't without upto 8 of his normal first team. Don't get me wrong, I'd have Jose over him every single time, but thats not going to happen, so just support the manager - please.
Fulham Broadway 17,364
As has been said theres been countless threads on this. Same old ground. Theres a vast proportion of Chelsea that'll never support him, and I'm in that camp. You're right he wouldn't turn down the job, he wangled and positioned himself to get it. Hes a useless lump, imo, and Ten Cates and Clarke are doing a sterling job. If Grant dropped dead tomorrow (please!!) , it would not affect Chelsea Football Club one iota. But we would get someone in , anyone, who would be better.

However Grant does have to take some credit for that as does Clarke and Ten Cate. At the end of the day the general feeling towards Grant is cooling, which considering where we are is no big suprise. People may not accept him outright and support him in the way Jose did. However should we be successful and winning trophys i would imagine that most the negativity will quickly be forgotten. (Cue countless people telling me they will never accept Grant )
