And how do u define messi/cr money??? What is ridiculous is essien getting 100k. Rooney getting 300k is not ridiculous if he can make us into a Pl and CL winning team, which he will

Essien is in the last year of his contract I beleive, don't think many people were complaining at the time he signed his extension. So, what will people be saying when Rooney's 32, no longer at the top of his game but still collecting £300k a week?

300k is just absurd amount of wages. It does not matter if we're still playing high wages to a few players at the club, does not give us an excuse to pay 300k just because Eto'o gets 150k or if Essien is 100k.

Trust me,I don't think Rooney would need an increment in wages to convince him to join us. The Jose factor and plus the fact that we'll be willing to offer him the 250k he's on will be enough to persuade him to leave.

Yeah Rooneys an idiot..... who earns 300k a week and is more intelligent with a ball than the average human being. What an idiot.

Earning a lot of money got nothing to do with intelligent, for how smart you are if you are Roman Abramovich's son you will end up being a billionaire, nothing to do with your IQ. Skill is not the same as intelligent I am afraid.

The thing is he is already on £250k per week, so the only way is at least the same or up, he will never reduces it. It does not matter that Paulo Ferreira is on like £50k without having kicked a ball for us in like 2 years now? Or Hilario and so on. If you sell Torres and Eto'o that would be a lot more than £300k taken off the ages bill already, not to mention all those fringe players.

Just can't see any way United let him do a Lewandowski and leave for free at the end of his contract. Not only do they have huge debt at the club, but it would cause an enormous uproar amongst their supporters if they let him go for free instead of getting £30m or more to go towards a replacement.

Seriously, what would it hurt to test them again this month? Like Jose said in the summer, what does he have to lose? An email?

Bid £30-35m and see what happens. It's the most they can expect to get for him with his contract situation. If they wait longer and he has a poor World Cup the price just goes down.

Just cash in now and let us have him you bastards! :)

You do know Paulo Ferreira has retired dont you?

Yeah I meant when he was still here, he was practically never used since after the 07/08 season really. And Hilario is still at the club. Then there are players like Bertrands which probably won't ever make it here, we will just sign someone like Shaw when Cole leaves. Then there is the useless Essien and Ba, who combined wages is close to £170k and so on...

The point is £300k for Rooney might seem a lot but it is nothing if compared to the amount being wasted by us on needless players.

why not. if we can get rid of all 3 of ba (80k), etoo (150k) and torres (210k) [overall 440k] and replace them with rooney (300k) and lukaku definitely less than 140k, then i dont see any problem with it.

Getting rid of Torres is nearly impossible..

Do u mean to say essien has not been at the top of his game only this season. Last season he was loaned out to RM, 2011-12, 2010-11, 2009-10 He was either injured or coming back from his injury, barelt playing a part. Please don't compare the essien situation to the rooney situation. Also essien is our 6th choice DM ( if u take into account that luiz played over him against pool), whereas rooney will be our main striker. Big difference.

Also its about needs and wants. Right now there are probably 3 strikers better than rooney ( lewa, falcao, cavani). [u can argue ibra too but since he is 33, there is no point]. Out of 3 of those one has signed a 5 year contract with bayern, and the rest 2 would cost double the amount of rooney while taking about 200k. Over the course of 5 years if u add the transfer and wages, it almost is equal. Also add to that that rooney is PL proven while the other 2 have no experience of english football. All in all rooney looks to be our best option for me

Ok lets see other options that are better or as good as Rooney:

Ibra-no point as old age, huge wages and not for sale

Cavani-not for sale, would cost at least £55m and also not exactly small wages either

Falcao-could get-28 years old already-£200-£250k per week, transfer fee also around £50m

Balotelli-Crazy, not for sale yet, also would want quite a lot in wages, would also cost at least £25m+, risk not worth taking considering his behaviour

Suarez-Not for sale yet, CRAZY RELEASE CLAUSE- probably at least £80m, wages about OK-behavior issue again

Diego Costa-£32m release clause, probably won't demand huge wages-BEST OPTION AHEAD OF ROONEY FOR ME

Jackson Martinez-40m euros, probably really low wages-not exactly young and not proven anywhere but Portugal-could be another Falcao or Veron

Dzeko-Will want to leave eventually but City won't sell to us, probably not huge wages-good option but won't happen imo

Lukaku-Not good enough to start here weekly, probably good as back up for our new ST

Benzema-Not bad option imo, not for sale atm but in the summer we could get him, probably like £30m and £100-£150k per week or Morata too if he wants to leave

There you go, not really a lot of realistic options is there, maybe Diego Costa or Martinez and Benzema, otherwise not a single chance with the others. Or we could just go for risky options like Oscar Cardozo but it is not worth taking that risk at a club like Chelsea, we need a proven ST.

I predict - we stick with Torres :\

With Eto'o being given a contract extension after scoring 10 goals for us troll_icons_2_28891_7697_thumb.png

"With Eto'o being given a contract extension..."

My heart skipped a beat for a second there until I finished your sentence. Thought I may have missed something and that he really did.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is a clause in his contract that says we must give him an extension if he scored a set amount of goals or something.

There is, as long as he scores 5 goals in all competitions, he gets to try one more year to score three more.
