Pacquiao 1,834
Can't see a reason why Rooney isn't the best available option for us. Age is just a number and with his mentality, he could do well in his early thirties.Given the fact that we have a young talent in Lukaku, Rooney could spearhead our attack for 2-3 years and we could scout for a new striker then and hopefully lukaku will be well established in the Chelsea shirt by then.A 3 year contract with his current wages and we could extend the contract annually based on performanceswe need a real striker in the summer not this guy! laeth 527
we need a real striker in the summer not this guy! Costa >>> RooneyCosta is no where near Rooney in terms of quality. He's has one good season and he doesn't offer no where near as much as a Striker as Rooney does (hold up play, contributing to the build up, vision, passing, work rate etc.). The only place to be 11,313
we need a real striker in the summer not this guy! Costa >>> RooneyI like this 'real striker' stuff. Costa as a real striker took till he was 24 to get into double digits for goals in a season. Rooney did that when he was still a teenager.Costa looks a great player and he's having a great season, but Rooney has also had great seasons (more than one in fact) and can play for us as a striker but also as an attacking midfielder when we play Lukaku or Torres up front. Sidzeret 2,257
Costa might as well turn out to be a one season wonder and you can tell how much I'm exaggerating when I call him a wonder. Can't believe where you get the idea that Rooney is on the decline seeming the way he's playing this season- literally carrying a shitty team to the top half. haranr 485
Costa isn't world-class in my opinion. He is an average striker with lots of luck that will probably only successed in Atletico. Wayne Rooney is a real finisher. I would love to see him here. Probably won't happen though.

I'd imagine so since he just signed a new contract.

Toli 977
i thinks it around 32 million, not sure if its Euro's or Pounds its 38-40 m euros. but if you dont agree with Atletico, to let him go and they force you to pay the clause, taxes are added on this clause, because Diego Costa has to reach in this money BY HIMSELF to the LFP and because of that, there is tax on this money. so we would need to reach an agreement with atletico to pay the clause and let him go, if not, the money would rise to 50 m euros or something like this. Very true, but if Rooney is going he'll surely be their number 1 striker, or they'll split game time again. Maybe we can throw in a good offer to Real which will allow them to perhaps get a better second choice striker than Morata if they did accept a bid from us. Not saying that it'll happen but I'd be delighted if that was a possibility.
