Bosnian Blue 2,471
Starting to come round the idea of what Blue Lion was saying about putting Luiz at right back.Luiz - Alex - Terry - Cole?Alex over Bane ?I don't think so.Bane is the most consistent player this season,he played fantastic against Nani, can do the same against Silva or Kolarov.Alex came back after an injury and his fitness is a big question.Ivanovic is very important for the team. LDN Blue 7,903
Alex over Bane ?I don't think so.Bane is the most consistent player this season,he played fantastic against Nani, can do the same against Silva or Kolarov.Alex came back after an injury and his fitness is a big question.Ivanovic is very important for the team.I was thinking give Ivanovic a rest. If Alex is fit then we should use him, as his strength can be a big asset against a team like City. Their players are quite small so Alex can intimidate them and he wins most of the aerial battles that come his way. Just a thought really. Would like to see him on at some point though, be it from kick off or after 80minutes from the bench.
Jose M 140
Our Best back four is Def: ivanovic..Terry..Alex..Luiz. From what Iv seen i reckon Luiz could play down any flank and imo Ashley hasnt been the same this season. He refuses to try take ppl on down the outside and rarely swings the ball into the box anymore.
NattyBlue 44
Meh dunno tbh, I might be going to the game, would prefer if my unbeaten league run last longer though but oh well
Tomo 21,751
Will be a hard game, id be the optomist and say 2-1 (Tevez opens Lamps equalises and Torres bags the winner )
Kostas 1,468
Ancelotti confirmed that Torres, Malouda and Essien will start against ManCity. Therefore I expect:CechBrana - Luiz - Terry - A.ColeRamires - Essien - Lampard - MaloudaAnelka TorresAt least we now know what Carletto thinks our first XI is. LondonBlue 0
Sorry to post this here, but does anyone have an extra ticket for the Man City game on Sunday? Please let me know, I would be so grateful!
dodojojo 510
Puts to bed the theory that Ancelotti is being forced to start Torres. He could have started Torres today (like everyone wanted) , played him all 90 and then used it as an excuse to not start Torres on Sunday. Instead he benched Torres to rest him for a bigger game. I'll be in Las Vegas for the weekend so I'll have to try to follow via my phone.
BlueLion. 21,491
Starting to come round the idea of what Blue Lion was saying about putting Luiz at right back.Luiz - Alex - Terry - Cole?I genuinely think it would work. Ivanovic isn't the best offensively and Bosingwa isn't the best defensively...
NattyBlue 44
So throw Alex right into the deep end? That's so unnecessary, Ivan is having a great season and been one of our best players, I don't know how good Luiz will be at RB for the game, I'm just assuming he's been in training as a CB but who knows (yes I know he can play the whole back 4). Ivan should start anyway and Alex on the bench, bring him on for a free kick in the 85th minute!

We only need one defensive centre half for this game(Terry) so let Luiz play and bring the ball out, much like he did against Fulham (remember the pass to Torres?). They will play ultra defensive like always and look for the counter attacking goal. With Luiz at centre half starting attacks it gives us the option we have not had in the past. Aesthetic Relic 301
IIRC the last game consisted of City packing the midfield and we resorted to lumping balls up to a uninterested Drogba who got owned all day by the City defence. The best way to beat City if they adopt a defensive set up (which they probably will) will be to play around them and not through them. Stretch the play at every opportunity and do what we do best.I reckon we'll go 4-3-

There just isn't anyone on the end of it though!

steve5221 91
Great Malouda is confirmed to start in this game, expect more Greed Greed Greed....he seriously limits Torres chances of scoring...as down the left is the best outlet for him, Ramires on the right is more for his strength and tackling and we all know we have no creativty in the middle....
