Drogba11CFC 108
Don't you think that Africa really doesn't like the UK at the moment? First Sudan, now this! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7128512.stm To consolidate my point... 1. West Africa has a notorious history of scams, fraud etc. In fact advance fee fraud is the main organised crime there. 2. Typing "Law in Ghana" into Wikipedia redirects you to an article entitled "Corruption in Ghana". I've seen the views in the Sun. They all side with the "Honourable" prosecutors and "Honourable" judge. I've seen better people in the Anfield home crowd. To summarise my argument in Latin: iniuria vindicandam. in Greek: η αδικία είναι And in "300-ese...", I'd need to kick the judge down the well whilst shouting: "THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" OK, my rant, like Liverpool's title challenge, has come to an end. What do you all think? Edited January 23, 2008 by Drogba11CFC
Fulham Broadway 17,312
Yeah but I suppose the UK would be just as harsh on a couple of Ghanaian girls they caught in this country. It'll come down to some diplomacy between the governments and then they'll be freed probably. As far as Africa it's easy to slag it off, but dont forget the whole continent was 'owned' by European countries, which stripped it of oil, minerals, assets, slaves etc. Puppet dictators put in place to serve Western interests, and now unsurprisngly theres a lot of resulting chaos. So its no wonder you get decisions that seem strange.
Elliott 7
The sentence isn't that harsh, they only have a few months left to serve. Obviously no-one here knows the facts. They could have well been set up, but then again, they could have been seriously doing it, and used that as a defence. Impossible to tell. As for Africa not liking the UK, pssh. Ghana and Sudan were both countries we colonised, raped, pillaged, and drew borders that did not reflect local cultures around. Can't really blame 'em. Even so, we've had two minor incidents and you think they hate us? One woman accidentally insulted the religion of the country she was in. That is their culture, and if you usurp it, you have to face the consequences. Again, her sentence wasn't at all harsh, she was home in a matter of days and was treated well. Yes there were some calling for her head, but they were very much in the minority, it's much the same as our greenheaded nature freaks who call for the heads of polluters, or animal activists who threaten people who test medicines on animals. Everywhere has idiots and people who are indoctrinated to believe a crock of bullshit. Then we have this incident, whereby it is impossible to tell who was right, defence and prosecution, and the charge is again not harsh, it is about right and it is enough to teach these girls a lesson had they really been smuggling this cocaine. Fulham Broadway 17,312
Good points E. If you go to Africa you also experience some of the most friendly people, more so than in Europe

Drogba11CFC 108
Nice or not, I've started a petition. http://www.PetitionOnline.com/s5gtl3vk/petition.html Only a Liverpool fan would refuse to sign it.

Drogba11CFC 108
I've had another look and some of the comments have disgusted me. All the obvious people (Scousers, Mancs, Gooners, Spurs, West Ham fans etc) have posted most of the disgusting stuff but one of the two most shocking comments have come from a guy named "sabbath97" who I hope isn't a member here. See for yourself. http://www.thesun.co.uk/mysun/comment/view...mp&pageNo=1 "Make them claim political asylum in Ghana" "They are not British" - They're legitimate UK citizens for f*ck's sake! Those comments belong at a BNP rally!
Elliott 7
I really do not see how that is shocking in any way. Are you cracker, are you cracker, are you cracker in disguise!?!
Drogba11CFC 108
Time to open the topic again. I have long since realised that: a) The majority here does not care about what fans of Spuds, Wet Spam, ManUre, Arsenhole or Livscum think on politics. Livscum fans should not really be reading the Sun anyway. c) The Sun isn't actually a newspaper, it's just soft porn, sport (which just consists of long articles blindly slagging off Chelea and praising Man Utd) and just blindly going along with what anyone who isn't a Chelsea fan wants to here. 35p is still quite cheap for a low to medium quality toilet paper anyhow. But still, given that I read on the BBC that the sentence was originally due to be announced on the 5th December and was actually announced over a month late, now the release is falling behind schedule too. I propose the following logos for Ghana's legal system. They represent... a) How good their system is at sticking to schedule and My opinion of their legal system if it allows itself to fall behind like that. BUT I will concede that they were found with Avram's personal stash. Edited April 21, 2008 by Drogba11CFC
Drogba11CFC 108
They've finally been released. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7511261.stm So the saga draws to a close. Apparantly (sp?) the sentence was extended a few days before the original release date. And I still think the prosecutors lied.

Drogba11CFC 108
Had this happened in China and Thailand...these girls would have been blindfolded in front of the Firing Squad. They are lucky to escape with a one year jail term. Point 1) Neither country uses firing squads anymore. Point 2) In both countries, the execution of anyone below the age of 18 is illegal (a point that none of the posters on the Sun's website observed.) Obviously that would have been the case if the Sun's readers were in charge of the world...as well as Stamford Bridge being the property of Tesco's. .Cee 50
I have to ask this, is one of the girls your relative? Just curious cause you're making a big deal out of this...
Drogba11CFC 108
No. I actually don't know how I got into this case...I think I was searching for ACoN news on the BBC and got a bit interested, then searched it on Youtube, got pissed off by a self-righteous (pro-prosecution, in case you thought otherwise) comment (plenty of which I would later encounter on the Sun's website...). If you have read the "Save Al Bangura" thread, you'll notice that I even went as far as accusing the prosecutors of trying to cause a train crash. Basically the people who posted the comments on the Sun's website, and the comments themselves, made me feel angrier and more bitter than I felt when I saw Liverpool lift the Champion's league trophy in 2005, than when I saw L*******l lift the FA cup in 2006, when I saw Cuntfeatures Ronarsehole score that winning penalty against England in the World Cup. And I also found out about all those films involving planted drugs, and thats my theory. Now, if anyone thinks that there is something wrong with the Syntax, please say so when you next reply.
