Ballack: We Are Ready

Recommended Posts

Michael Ballack has expressed his desire to reach a second successive Carling Cup final, and just like his team-mates, is hoping for a Wembley return.

The German midfielder has missed our two previous visits to Wembley due to an ankle injury, but fit again, he is hoping to sample the new stadium having sampled success there with his national side back in late 2000.

'I played the last game at Wembley and it was good, especially for the German players because we won it,' he recalled.

Having won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, we take a slender advantage to Merseyside, but Ballack recognises Everton's hunger for success as a levelling influence.

'I think it will be another difficult game because we know for Everton this is their chance to play in a final this year, and they know this and so I think they will give everything to go to the final,' Ballack explained.

'But we know that and we will as well, because we are the holders and it is also a big motivation for us. It would be good to be in the final again. We want to go to the final, so you have to take your chance. Every player is ready.'

Ballack had an impressive final against Arsenal last season, laying on Didier Drogba's first goal as we triumphed at the Millennium Stadium. A repeat Chelsea victory in this year's competition is rated at evens with online betting partner Paddy Power.

The game can be followed on Chelsea Plus, which features live match commentary.
