BlueLion. 21,491
Kalou has officially announced he has a new double-barrelled surname. He is now officially to be known as Salomon Kalou-
Madmax 9,219
Drog/Nando upfront (preferably Nando - he's more pacy) serviced by the other in addition to Anelka. He's got the deftness of touch, the weight on the pass and the vision for one to set up chances for his teammates. Also, this doesn't require him to take on and dribble past players - something he's not good at. The centre midfield picks itself. Note - The christmas tree is easily interchangeable with the 4-3-1-2 or the diamond. Only change being Drogba alongside Torres with Nico linking midfield and attack. After last night, can I be a right tit here and say 'I told you so'? Corlett 202
Chelsea website match report says we played 4-1-2-1-2.I thought it said we played the christmas tree. There was good movement about Chelsea's play. Kalou and Anelka were playing behind Drogba in the Christmas tree shape first used here by Ancelotti in a good win early last season. Peace. 4,352
We should keep playing in 4-3-1-2. Right now this is the formation which suits the more to our squad. Plus if the club wants Kakuta to be one of our futur starter, this is the formation which suits him.
Kajo 176
So our tactic will be look like this one :-------------------Torres-Drogba---------------------------------------Maluoda-------------------------------------Lampard-Essien------------------------------------------Mikel---------------------------Cole-Alex/Brana/Luiz-Terry-Bosingwa-------------------------Cech--------------------------or swap Malouda with Lampard

I was hell worried about this as last season he was nowhere near to his standard. However yesterday it was the usual Frank Lampard getting into the box and finding his favourite position to score. BLionheart 516
i know you all will hate me for saying this , but Drogba and torres are both at their best as lone strikers specially torres , he excels at moving within between the opposition CBs , he struggled with spain when played next to villa .also Drogba and torres will not be the partnership you are all hoping for , i hope i will be proved wrong but they are both CF and to have a good partnership you need one SS .but luiz will be the perfect partner for terry and he can play as a RCB btw .Drogba time to get some rest my friend . zolayes 14,489
seems like Carlo is trying something different. According to Daily Mail, we played 4-2-1-2-1 which i think is true. Anelka played behind Drogba and Kalou and was amazing.according to them Bardsley was MOM

If it was up to me, Drogba would play alongside Turnbull and Ferreira on the bench. Yesterday night both Anelka and Kalou have sent a good message to Torres, while Drogba has sent a bad message to everybody, he doesn't give a flying fuck. Drogba just doesn't deserve to be in our starting XI.But I'm agree with you, Drogba and Torres wouldn't make a good partnership since they are way too similar in my opinion. That's why Malouda or Kalou should play with Torres. In my opinion, from now our lineup should be :CechIvanovic - Luiz* - Terry - ColeEssien** - Mikel - LampardAnelkaTorres - Malouda**** When he will be fit.** or Ramires*** or Kalou

Styles 9,790
You guys don't see how much attention Drogba gets from defenders. Kalou had a good game last night because he was free almost all game, the Sunderland defeners rarely bothered to mark him because Drogba was there and Anelka just behind. Now imagine Torres was playing instead of Kalou? He would have scored a hattrick last night I am 100% certain of that.Defenders mark Drogba and often double up on him like Bramble and Onuha did last night. Kalou was there floating about as the spare man no wonder he had a good game by his standards.AnelkaTorres DrogbaWe need to see that in action first and foremost before anything else in my opinion. Benayoun would have been perfect cover for that role in behind the two strikers.
LDN Blue 7,903
That's actually a very good point! Didn't notice it until you mentioned it now, this trio could honestly be a defender's nightmare if we work it properly!

Nobody respects Kalou's ability so they don't mark him.

Now he'd have 2 world class options when he gets on the ball.

Kalou on the bench with limited minutes is a good idea. And Torres does something none of the other strikers in our team do well or even want to do...play on the last man and make runs in behind. This forces defenders to drop deeper and allows for more space for others to operate.
