Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo's eggs increasingly in the Champions League basket. Must remind him of his Milan days...

I'm a big fan of Carlo's cool, calm, media friendly image. He injects glamour with his Armani suits and nonchalant mannerisms in the face of adversity. Even after the devastating 2005 champions league final, he went on to guide a team of pensioners +kaka' to redemption in 2007. Yet his league record is suspect to say the least, he lost a championship from nine points up with eight games to go. So it's no wonder he only has a single 'serie a' title in 8 years at Milan.

Essentially, he is a coach and not a visionary. Berlusconi was the mastermind and made the big decisions, Carlo merely accepted them. He is the exact opposite to Mourinho, in terms of the power he both demands and warrants. The problem we have as a football club is that Roman, Gourley and co have made poor decisions. They knew full well Carlo has an appalling record with youngsters, apart from a rare few (Pato, Kaka'). Yet they appointed him in midst of this epic crossroads we face as a club to implement youth. Ballack's contract renewal would have caused a signing like Ramires to be impossible, but he was tailor made for Carlo's management style.

Nevertheless, Carlo must stay. The dice has been rolled, and it would be detrimental in the long term to hire a new manager and staff. Along with demands for new players, and time for new philosophy's to be embraced. We need a cash injection from Roman to revitalise the squad, players have become far too comfortable. Winston Churchill once said, "Success, is the ability to move from one failure to the other with enthusiasm". I couldn't agree more.

Agreed, despite his head-scratching decisions and the responsibility he may have for our catastrophic results I believe he should stay for the same reason you do.

Although one has to wonder if keeping a man at such an important position just for the sake of keeping him is a healthy way of thinking

This is, perhaps, the most crucial part. While the appointment may have looked to be a mistake and lacking hindsight, it is simply too late to turn back at this stage. Especially with the depature of Wilkins so fresh in the minds of everyone involved in/with the Premier League.

Perhaps in the summer the board will review the manager, but for now they must give him undisputed control of his team and no interference from Roman. He must be given the funds and a say in transfer policy, he must tell Roman who he wants and be allowed to sign them.

I have no doubt that Carlo is a good manager. But, he is far from the best.. A tactician is what is needed! Somebody who can go into the sheds 1-0 down at half time and make a change in formation only to return in the second with the result we need.. Carlo is not a Coach who wins coming from behind. He is more likely to capitulate after making nervous substitutions which usually never make sense. Last year we saw him run with the Diamond formation until teams figured out how to defend against it and then it took him weeks to realize and change the formation.

I think that is whats needed here.

A change in formation.

I would like to see us go back to a 4-4-2 with a specialist attacking MF purchased in the transfer window. Today Drogba barely got any service which resulted in him dropping back into Midfield to get the ball himself only to find that when he got the ball there was nobody to give it to.. Our attack is non-existent and we have to rely on our defenders scoring off a set piece!

Although i wouldn't want it to happen, I can't see Carlo making it to the end of the season if he isn't holding the Champions League trophy..

Off course We need new players to be in next CL, and We cant fire him because We cant waste more money every time We fire a coach, and who will be crazy to accept this job If We fire another one before the end of the contract...but lets look for a new manager for 2012, please.

The cynic in me says the contacts that got him hired in the first place will buy him the time he needs in during this crisis.

I do not know what to say about Anchelotti.

On the one hand, it is necessary to establish a coach for several years, since the MOU was no way a coach able to stay.

On the other hand I think Anchelotti is having trouble managing the dressing room, inspiring to help exit this problem.

I do Not doubt the coaching ability and tactical of Anchelotti, but if I have my serious doubts for the treatment of morale and team spirit. This crisis started long ago and can not get out. As I said we are in a quicksand the more we fight the more we sink.

Today Anchelotti said a few thing that worries me very much:

"'We had a good reaction but it was not enough. The moment continues to

be difficult but we have a game in two days and we can change in the

next game.'"

Same history in the last non winning games. SO IF THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME WHY ARE WE KEEP FIGHTING THE PROBLEM, WE ARE COMING FROM ALMOST 2 WEEKS OFF AND WE FAIL AGAIN.....SO ARE U UNAVAILE TO FIX IT??

"'I was surprised for this performance because I saw very good training sessions this week..."

IT MEANS THAT THE TEAM IS TRAINING WELL BUT IS NOT REFLETED IN THE GAMES.... WHY THE PLAYER ARE NOT GIVING THE 100% IN THE GAMES OR THE TRAINING ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH AS U BELIVE?? I remember, Scolari said the same, weeks later when Drogba spoke about this and other player they all complaing about the way training.

"If you play against a good team like Arsenal, you lose if you don't wake up.

We have to wake up. Maybe I have to be the first to wake up."

'

"

this ones worries me the most. how can a team is sleep now if they start the season in complete control and destroting all team on the way?? .... And please Carlo, we had lost agains low in the table teams too so is not just Arsenal we can not WIN. You have to wake up? what this mean?? Your actitud in the team is not right?? or U are over confident and not doing your job??

If Anchelotti stays there just 2 options, the players understand they have to leave it and have to fight for a place in Champion to be from 1 to 4 in the table, because the truth I doubt that they win the ¨PL and by more than you say that there is a lot of PL yet, we are out now.

On the other hand, if Anchelotti is cut, be sure Guus Hiddink will replace him, something that I like at his time at Chelsea was that he had much authority and inspire change. I think he has great potential.

And if Rafa Benitez is an option and he is named coach .... Just do not follow this team again while Benitez is a coach, because in my opinion is a cancer.

I don't particularly rate Ancelotti but he is doing as much as any other coach could with the current squad. Give him better options then see how he does. But questioning our manager when we have utter rubbish like Kalou in the first team and the weakest bench in the entire League is futile.

I don't like Hiddinck style.Score 1 goal and after that everyone in def.I don't like to watch games like this.Carlo is good for now.But if we have new coach I want to be Mourinho. We will see him after new year what he will do.If we continue lose point then we can search for another coach. :)

OMG, please stop asking for Mourinho. By this time he would be at press asking for new players, saying that its not his fault and that kind of thing. Mourinho is so fucking annoyng. He was important but now he belongs to the past...plus he was humiliated by Barcelona: 5-0. He cant be that good. He spent millions and millions and what he did was an obligation.

For the first time, I agree with you, TX.

Ancelotti has to stay. We're going through a transitional period and to sack the manager now, as we did with Scolari, would be a mistake. It would simply mean we'd go through this again.

The last two months will hopefully show why Abramovich should pull his finger out and buy us someone.

Not necessarily putting the blame on the coach but thin or not our squad is good enough to qualify for the CL without even breaking a sweat*.

*REAL injury crisis excluded.

Spot on. We made Scolari one of the highest paid managers when we fired him and had to pay him that huge compensation fee. Carlo plans to go back to Italy in 2012 anyway (so I've read), like the England national team are doing now, all we can do is prepare someone for then. I don't mind seeing someone like Van Gaal (who's got the credentials) or even Quique Flores.

And hopefully by 2012 we'll have a refreshed squad full of player who are near/below the 26year mark.

We have to overcome the huge challenge of replacing at least Lampard and Drogba when our board failed to replace our bench warmers.

Where did people get the idea that Abramovich isn't willing to spend?

Definitely. Most hopes are being pinned on Lukaku to fill the Drogba role, but we must find others to compete with him if we're to see this or if Lukaku fails to impress. Lampard is one of the hardest players we'll find to replace, there's simply no-one like him. Maybe Connor Clifford would've shown some fresh light by then for our squad..

And probably people who read the Daily Mail
