the wes 7,212
Chelsea are looking to bring in more players this month and chief executive Peter Kenyon said an announcement will hopefully be made next week. The Blues, who miss key players – Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien and Mikel due to their national commitment for African Nations Cup, are looking to compensate and keep their title hopes alive. “I think we're still looking as always, not for many but for the right ones and there will hopefully be another announcement next week,” Kenyon told Chelsea TV. As such, Avram Grant has got in prolific striker Nicolas Anelka in a £15m deal from Bolton last week to offset the absence of Drogba, and Kenyon disclosed that the negotiations were quite complicated. “Negotiations are always difficult and this has proven no different. But I think he was Bolton's major player and clearly that's always difficult to prise away,” Kenyon commented. “Those discussions have been going on for a couple of months but we got there very late on Thursday night, Friday morning, and we were lucky enough to get him registered and conclude everything on Friday night. “But they handled the negotiations extremely well and we are delighted to have him.”
EskWeston 696
Well it is pretty obvious that we will be signing Ivanovic now and also the Franco Di Santo deal is one that should be going through as well. Don't know if there will be anymore though, who knows.

EskWeston 696
On Setanta Sports News last night it mentioned that we were preparing a bid for Iniesta I think that is just a roumer at the moment and not sure how much substance there is to that story at the moment, although it would be a cracking signing. BlueLion. 21,491
Yes it would. But we have two wing positions - I wouldn't want to be the one choosing between Kalou, Iniesta, Joe Cole, Malouda, Wright-Phillips and Sinclair for those two positions. Ollie 4,400
I don't think we need anyone else. I don't know where we are weakened atm, with a fully fit squad, it will be impossible to control if we get iniesta too. no need. DavidEU 2,023
Iniesta isn't a wide play as such is he? Ivanovic deal very close, so I guess thats the deal PK was talking about.

Ollie 4,400
i thought that too, but we don't need him regardless if he's a winger or a central midfielder.
Ricky10 5
Iniesta is a good player but we got too many Center midfielders like Essien,Lampard, ballack, sidwell, mikel and maka
Aesthetic Relic 301
Sidwell is going and Maka wont be around for much longer, so why not make a move for him

Stamford 3
I agree that Iniesta would be a great signing, but a luxurious one really. We don't need him either for cover or first team. I agree with Esk that is just a rumor at the moment, maybe a smokescreen for somebody else. God knows who though. I don't think Kenyon is talking about Ivanovic, as that deal is almost done and dusted. So no need for the "cloak and dagger" announcement next week talk. We Hate Scouse 10,326
Its not the Ivanovic deal because that will be agreed tomorrow, not next week. As soon as I read the bit about, the club being in negotiations for the past few months Ronaldinho popped into my head. Could it be?
the wes 7,212
Ronaldinho has not played much this season it could happen because barcelona have got a couple of young players coming throught the ranks like Giovani Dos Santos and Bojan Krkic
We Hate Scouse 10,326
And Dos Santo's is meant to be deffo signing for us in January and apparently were looking at Bojan....Anyone else?

EskWeston 696
It would seem that at the moment there are 2 more candidates for comming in January. Firstly is the apparent "done deal" of Franco Di Santo which is the more likely signing for next week and then we have Giovanni Dos Santos which is still up in the air until Barca agree a fee....
