Tévez will quit football because of money

So here's an interesting statement for Tévez, declaring his lost passion for football, because money has ruined it. (Quite ironic, then, that he moved to Manchester City)

"I don't want to play anymore,"

"I'm tired of football, but also tired of people who work in football. I don't want to play anymore, and I'm talking seriously."

"Football is only about money, and I don't like it. There are so many agents with really young footballers ... it's awful, as these young players are not interesting in winning titles, they only want money. The young players think that they have won something in football because they have two cell phones and a house. Today, there are many bad people in the football business, and you have to fight with them all the time. I'm tired of that too."

"Today, the young players have no education at all, and I don't want to listen to them. When I played in Boca, when [Martin] Palermo or [Juan Roman] Riquelme talked, I listened to them. So I don't want a young player to tell me 'why did you do that?' in the dressing-room. I would punch him, as I have won 13 titles in my career."

"I'm going to play football for three or four years in Europe, then I will quit. I would play for Boca again only if my father asks me to do it, but I don't want to play in Argentina again. If you ask me, I would love to have my old life back in my neighbourhood of Fuerte Apache as I don't like my way of life today."

So what do you guys think about this?

3 things :

1. This is what the 4th time he's said the same thing? Just quit already or shut up and play.

2. It's easy to talk about quitting after already having made your millions.

3. I'm fucking sick of footballers whining all the time. I appreciate he's away from his family and it would kill a father to be away from his children but seriously there's billions out there who he's better off than, and they can only dream of being in his shoes.

He should do what makes him happy. And if that's retiring early from football, he should do it.

Agree with his comment on (some) people in the football business and it's not just in football. We live in a twisted world.

1. Well he has declared his intentions to do so in 2/3years

2. Agreed

3. I don't think the point is about being away from his family, but more how football has become corrupt now. It's interesting what he says about agents signing players very young and those very players caring more about money than the game. If he walks away before 30 I will be very surprised considering how good he is.

I remember him talking about retiring a couple of times before, and the reason he gave then was him missing his daughters too much.

End of the day, like Blue Heart said, it's his choice and he should do what he wants, but the talk about money in football is a bit rich (pun intended) coming from him considering the kind of people he's associated himself with *cough* Kia Joorabchian *cough*

Fantastic footballer - and in my view, he has a fantastic attitude. He is also absolutely correct. Young footballers don't care about titles anymore. Football is no longer a game of emotion and glory, it is simply about wage packets.

Well at least someone recognises his ability :whistling:

You can't possibly speak on behalf of every footballer.

Titles = Immortality

Money = Temporary
