BlueLion. 21,491
John Terry attributed a record-breaking eighth consecutive league clean sheet at Stamford Bridge to the whole side's defensive capabilities following our 2-0 win over Wolves. The last time an away side scored against us in the Premier League was in April when John Carew netted for Aston Villa. After his 450th start for the club, Chelsea's captain expressed his pleasure in that fact having watched attacking players once again covering back against a tough Wolverhampton side.'On a personal note it is great to get that many starts for the club but as a team I'm very proud, it has been a great few games for us, especially at home,' said Terry.'We are a unit because we defend from the front. Everyone tracks back and helps and that's key for us.'We have been defending really well and we see the likes of [Michael] Essien and [Florent] Malouda tracking back and doubling up with Ashley [Cole] and [Jose] Bosingwa, that's really important.'Mikel breaks up a lot of play, Petr [Cech] made some great saves and we're defensive all over the pitch. We defend from the front and defend altogether.'It was a difficult fixture, with Wolves producing more shots on target in the 90 minutes than the Blues, and called for non-stop concentration from Chelsea. The game wasn't killed off until 10 minutes from time when substitute Salomon Kalou struck an Essien through ball to make it two to Chelsea, finishing off a move initiated by himself when he first played the ball to Didiier Drogba.Terry admitted the visitors were not out of the game until that point, as Wolves pressed against a Blues side tired following midweek action in Europe, when we beat Spartak Moscow 2-0.'I did think it could have been one of those games when they were breaking away,' admitted Terry. ''They did have a couple of half-chances but when the second goal went in I thought that was it, game over.'It's funny because after the game in Moscow the players said how well they felt physically but we saw against Wolves it wasn't one of our greatest performances. The important thing is that we got three points.'Talking of the fixture in Russia, our captain also had a message for the Russian fans that made their way to the game, adding to the message he gave the travelling UK support after the win inside the Luzhniki Stadium.'I just want to say a big thank you from all the team to our Russian supporters that made the Spartak game. We knew there would be a lot of them there and it was fantastic to see and hear them throughout the game which helped create a great atmosphere and spurred us on.'It's always nice to know that we have such strong support in Russia, and the fact that a lot of them travelled great distances to be there meant so much to all the players.'One of the big stories to come from Saturday's win was Bosingwa's return to the starting line-up for the first time in 13 months, and Terry had plenty of praise for our Portuguese right-back.'He put in some great crosses and had a couple of chances to score as well,' reported Terry.'He is a great character to have around the place and it is good to see him with a smile back on his face and back in the team.'But we have other options as well, Paulo [Ferreira] has been great, but it is an important time in the season to start getting players back.'We have had a boost with Essien's return, Bosingwa's back now as well and obviously we're looking forward to Lamps coming back in the next couple of weeks.'From The Official Site. LDN Blue 7,903
Does anyone know how many games it's been since we were last beaten at Stamford Bridge? How great would it be to replicate (& go beyond) the 86 we once had :chelsea2:
