The start of the Italy-Serbia qualifier has been delayed because of Serbia fans throwing flares on to the pitch and lighting fireworks. The teams came out and began to line up for the national anthems but then were sent back into the changing rooms as police in riot gear came out to confront the fans.2043: More bad news from Genoa where the match at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium between Italy and Serbia has been suspended because of the crowd trouble. cfc-meleady 192
Story spreading that West Hams Mark Noble will be switching his international duties over to the Republic of Ireland from England.I've heard this from a few sources but here's one link
LDN Blue 7,903
I don't think that's allowed? He's represented England at u21 level so I don't think he'd qualify for Ireland?

He's represented England at u21 level so I don't think he'd qualify for Ireland?AFAIK you can switch national teams unless you've made a senior team appearance. Age level football doesn't count. cfc-meleady 192
Yeh Madmax is right, it's only senior caps that count.
LDN Blue 7,903
Ah okay, because I was going to refer to the Mikel Arteta for England senario but having re-read into that..FIFA Statutes stipulate that the player needs to have held a British passport at the time when he represented Spain at the U16 European ChampionshipsSo I guess as long as Noble has an Irish passport, he'll be alright? cfc-meleady 192
Hope so, we could really use a player like him.
Rubber bullets 1,183
Noble was never going to have a chance in hell of getting in the England squad under Capello, so I can see why he would switch. A shame becuase he is the type of player England really needs.

LDN Blue 7,903
Drogba AND KALOU RETURN TO COBHAM Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will not take part in Ivory Coast's friendly international in Poland tonight (Wednesday). Both answered the call-up from their country, the first since the World Cup for Drogba, but having been seen by Ivory Coast medical staff in Paris he has been allowed to return to his club as he continues his recovery from the effects of malaria.Kalou experienced administrative problems with documentation that would have delayed his entry into Poland so he too has been allowed to return to Chelsea. The two players took part in training at Cobham today.
