2 cents on the women's game: in a low scoring sport that football is, the US nt winning so easily and often, does not bode well for the sport. I know US folks here think otherwise, and it is counterintuitive, but I just can't see that dominance in a single-elimination competition being anything other than just showcasing the gulf that separates them from the other teams.

Just thought folks here would get this point - a point I rarely can make at home. ;)

congrats for the US women ;) such dominance in football.

Yup you are on point. Not really big fan of wwc. The gulf of quality is too big. The problem with the other team is that usually they don't have a complete team whereas US has good player in every position.

they were great, but not DOMINANT

dominant is Lyon at club level

4 straight CLs, 6 out of last 9 (and twice runners up)

13 straight league titles, 9 straight league cups

7 of the top 10 players in the world, and 17, 18 or so of top 30

2014-15

look at their league table, lolol and PSG was unbeaten, no draws, except for the 2 losses v Lyon, and that year PSG lost the final in the CL, as they had a massively controversial game in the CL were they upset Lyon at home nil 1 (Lyon had drew 1 1 at PSG , also crazy bad refs against Lyon there too, so only need a nil nil), with the refs absolutely cheating Lyon out of it (4 goals called back, and a crazy non call that allowed PSG to score only goal of the game in the last 10 minutes)

Lotta Schelin, the greatest Swedish player by far ever, was their superstar then, along with who is now the best player in the world, Ada Hegerberg (first-ever recipient of the Ballon d'Or Féminin this year)

GD PLUS 141, roflmaoo 147 scored 6 conceded

pick any of the last 7 or so Lyon teams

they would crush the US national team

I saw a little of Bayern v. Real yesterday.
It was a match without fouls -almost.
Courtois conceded his usual three goals, Hazard was not impressive.

the last two Bayern goals (they won 3 1) were off Keylor Navas, not Cuntois

Yup. It's a sobering thought that most of us are three steps away from being homeless

Player eligibility
Players must meet all of the following criteria:

Be at least 16 years old at the time of the tournament
Have not taken part in previous Homeless World Cup tournaments
Also, must be any of the following:

Have been homeless at some point after the previous year's tournament in accordance with the national definition of homelessness
Make their main living income as a streetpaper vendor
Be asylum seekers currently without positive asylum status or who were previously asylum seekers but obtained residency status a year before the event
Currently be in drug or alcohol rehabilitation and also have been homeless at some point in the past two years

Sounds reasonable. Here in the UK we always see more on the streets under a tory government.

Neymar rape case closed by Brazilian police

Brazilian police have said there was not enough evidence to recommend prosecution on rape accusations against Paris Saint-Germain football star Neymar who was accused of raping a model at a Paris hotel in May.

Ronaldo also was accused and acquitted. I just can't see them being rapists, why would they be unless they're psychos or incels? Which I very much doubt they are. They can get any women they want, why risk it all to forcefully fuck someone who doesn't want it when millions of others do? I smell opportunism in such cases, seriously undermining real victims while doing that.

then there is the other Ronaldo, lolol

A Soccer Star and 3 Tranny Hos

Hot mess alert!

According to reports, Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo recently met with Rio de Janeiro cops to answer questions about a run-in he had with 3 tranny hookers.

Classic!

You can’t make this shizz up!

Ronaldo met the 3 tranny hos on Sunday at an upscale bar in Rio. He was so impressed by the ‘ladies’ that he agreed to a night of fun with them at a motel. He claims that it wasn’t til they got to the motel that he discovered they were, um, lads.

A police source says that once Ronaldo discovered the truth, he offered them about $600 each to leave. Two of the three accepted. The other, named Andrea, demanded $30,000 from Ronnie.

That ingrate!

Andrea’s claiming that Ronnie knew he was getting trannys and that she has a ‘receipt’ to prove it (ha…yeah, like that can’t be doctored).

She also claims Ronaldo was using drugs.

Prostitution is not illegal in Brazil, by the way.

Ronaldo acknowledges that he knew the trio were prostitutes (just not the tranny kind).

I am NOT saying they are guilty, but rape is primarily a power dynamic, not so much a sexual desire/availability thing. One needs only to look at what goes on in prison.

The sad truth is that being acquitted does not mean they are innocent. It is unbelievably easy to get away with things when you are rich. The system is broken, especially with someone who is rich...and historically speaking, men have consistently gotten away with these acts, that's not a question.

Also, millions of women wanting him means absolutely nothing on whether he raped someone or not. There's plenty of famous, "attractive" people that have been sexual predators in various ways.

Let's take the Ronaldo situation for example. We don't know what happened, but what we do know is that he paid this woman a lot of money to keep quiet about what happened...she eventually decided to come forward. He is now acquitted, but why did he pay her so much then??? There has to be a reason. She might have "wanted" to get with him at first but then once things were happening she wanted to stop, but he didn't. If he forced to continue, that's clearly rape. We don't know what happened. And rape is a really hard thing to prove too. It's one word against someone else.

Like vesper said, rape is clearly a sexual thing, but it's also a power thing. Ronaldo may feel he has the right to anything to anyone because he's rich, famous, etc. I mean Trump is pretty obvious example of that...
