With Matic and Rajkovic, and possibly Mellis(although I think the reporters might have messed Matic with Mellis) on loan to Vitesse the reports of them becoming a feeder club look very true.

Arsenal have some Belgian feeder club so this can't hurt.

This would actually be a very good link up for us, regular football at top level Dutch league for our youngsters would be very good, already have seen how well it worked for Alex and Stoch (although there was European football invoved for them also). Hopefully will be a good link up

Google translation:

"... Both players have been hired, but we have an option to buy in the contract. We are very happy that they play for Vitesse,"said Ted van Leeuwen.

Thanks for that, pretty disappointing to be honest. Liked what I saw from Matic in preseason. Hopefully the deal for Delac is just a loan, he seems to be very highly rated.

I am sure the option is for some stupid figure. I doubt it really means much, aparently Stoch had one in his loan agreement to Twente. I am sure it is common practice.

This is potentially a very very good link up for us. To be able to send these players out to get a good seasons experience under them, couldn't ask for more really.

The only problem with Matic is that he is a little slow with his play, a season in the Dutch league will do him the world of good. Like i said, even if there is a buyout clause in this loan agreement it doesn't really mean much. It certainly doesn't mean we are looking to get rid of Matic.

Matic isn't really an academy product so I don't see how it's related,a possible sale however would raise many questions about some of our scouts.

I know he isn't an academy product, but my point is if the club are going to spend millions on bringing in a foreign youngster then go on and sell him after two or three substitute appearances, then the lads coming through the academy set up have no chance!

There is certainly a long way to go before we prove that this club is capable of bringing through the most talented of our academy youngsters, steps are being made in the right direction. Matic was bought in for the first team, but like Di Santo he may not be able to make the step up. He looks a decent player so we will have to wait and see, Matic not making it would not mean we have taken a step backwards. It is how we deal with the big talents (Kakuta, Bruma, McEachran) that will tell how well we are doing.
