@ankit, I am not going anywhere :) promise

@Dion, it is really freaky they way they are about the photos. We have had people ask to have their phot with one or all of us, stand casually near us so their friend can snap a photo, my son was followed around a museum by a group of teenage girls (maybe not so bad for him but all they would do is giggle and stare!), people using telephoto lenses to get pictures (creepy), etc. The weirdest ones are the ones that reach out to touch MacKenzie's hair or face. The old people I understand it is a cultural thing that they touch children's faces but young women touching her is odd. It is as if they think their hair or skin will benefit by touching hers!

So, I have had my slice of life as a celebrity and can say it is bizarre and makes you feel lie an exhibit at a freak show!

Do they even ask before touching her or do they just come and do it? I remember when I was a child I HATED that everyone meeting me would grab my cheeks (because I had big cheeks). Even though they were acquaintaces of my parents or family even, it didn't make it any better. I can only imagine it is worse with total strangers.

Most don't ask because they assume we cannot speak Mandarin. Some will tell her she is very beautiful "hen piaoliang" but no they don't ask to touch her. She has gotten very adept at backing away before they can touch her. And she has learned to tell them she would rather not have them touch her, politely of course :)

It is amazing that adults forget that what it was like to be a kid and how awkward these thing are!

I guess it depends on the culture. Here touching kids faces is normal (from relatives and acquaintances, not strangers) but certainly not pictures. A stranger taking pictures of a girl would probably end in a huge fight that would likely include gunfire :P

It is culturally acceptable for older people to touch children's faces here. In the US, it is normal for family and close acquaintances as well. The picture thing is bizarre but happens all the time. For some I think it may possibly be that it is the first time they have ever seen a blond haired blue eyed person. We were actually warned it would happen thank goodness. However we do not allow her to go any where unescorted if she is not with family or friends she is with our driver. Our driver treats her as if she was his daughter or niece.

The picture thing is just creepy, imo. I've never heard anywhere where that is acceptable. There aren't many western people living in China?

Mine too! Unfortunately, not a lot we can do to stop it. We do make sure they know we are aware they are trying to get a picture and MacKenzie will often hide behind one of us or turn her head so they only get the back of her head.

Depends on the city. Shanghai has about 175,000 expats (I think that is what I read) in a city of 26 Million. But that number includes all expats not just westerners. It is not usually a problem in the neighborhoods near our house because our neighbors know us and look out for us. the touristy areas are worse because you have people from outside Shanghai who are not used to Westerners. In the smaller cities, like Xi'an, we really stand out. It was really bad there because we traveled with friends who are African-American! Talk about a combination guaranteed to attract attention!

on ipad or iphone?

Take a screenshot perhaps?

on Laptop.

if u take a screen shot it doesn't show the whole key.

Moreover , if you use printscreen, it's PNG due to which I can't share it on this forum. So I have to save the snapshot on my laptop then upload it on imageshack then I can share it on here.

What do you mean by can't show the whole key? I usually use greenshot . Very useful. I think you save it in any format. But I usually upload everything on imageshack and drag it here.
