Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
Thats sad, that doing well in school is used to call someone a traitor to their race. The same for Ferdinand, calling Cole out when all Ash did was tell the truth to stop an innocent man get punished.yeah, even though they're all jokin which i understand and still my best buds, theres always a some truth in every joke. CHOULO19 24,332
You can't be racist against your own kind! Racism is not only hate towards a race. It is saying/implying/believing that people are unequal and separated by their race or skin color. That includes when someone assumes that all people of a certain race (even if it is his own) should act in a way that is different from other people of another race. Racism should be pointed out even when the statement is not an insult because it is the mentality that is more damaging than the statement it self. Example:- "Jews make good lawyers" --> Racist- "I love black people" --> Racist

CHOULO19 24,332
"Germans always win in penalties" - racist?"English suck at penalties" - racist? No but prejudice. Why do you feel the need to over generalize the trait? If that was true, then we should have left Bayern the trophy when the 120 mins ended. But there are Geramns who loose in penalties. The point is saying that someone is superior or inferior to another solely because of his race is the definition of racism and even if it is about something silly, it opens the door for the same "mentality" to be used on different traits. And another point, the reason why, more often than not, Germans prevail in penalties is a certain mentality that a large group of Germans have due to their society. It has nothing to do with their race (meaning if a Chinese football player was born and raised in the same society, he is likely to have this same quality even if he is not of the German race). This "prejudice" is based on historic facts, that Germans are usually successful at penalties for whatever reason. If jews make good lawyers, if there is strong enough evidence to support that claim, then it's not prejudice or racism. It is stereotypical and generalizing to say that Asians are smart and Jews are good with money, but stereotypes aren't always necessarily bad and they can be based off solid evidence... they usually don't evolve out of nothing, but they can be ignorant. The thing is I would rather have a person saying "I love black people" instead of "I hate everybody except blacks", there's a massive difference between those two. Damn, I'm tired of all these racism discussions. The bottom line is that everything associated with superficial hatred and discrimination is not okay. Label it what you want, anything that is used to put down somebody is bad.

Damn, I'm tired of all these racism discussions. The bottom line is that everything associated with superficial hatred and discrimination is not okay. Label it what you want, anything that is used to put down somebody is bad.I see your point mate and I may have not explained mine well so let me try again. The examples I gave in my previous post and the statement you mentioned about Germans and penalties are not "bad" because they don't insult anyone. But my point is I'd rather say something like "Most German players are excellent at penalties" because:1) "Germans never loose penalties" is a logical fallacy.2) I ask again: Why do you feel the need to over-generalize a trait, especially among a race? There are 1.5 million professional footballers in Germany (I read this number once but I'm not too sure about it), how many of them have you watched? 1000? 10000? For all you know, the vast majority of German footballers could be terrible at penalties. Same goes for black people and rapping. Rapping became trendy in some areas in the US that contain societies that are mostly made of black people. The actual ability to rap has nothing to do with skin color as I'm sure there are millions and millions of black people in Africa who can't rap. Why people feel the need to make a connection between rapping and skin color is honestly beyond me.3) The dangerous part of these statements is the mentality behind them. You say that black people (in the US) are good at rapping because there are more rappers with black skin. If, at one point, there are more black or white people in jail, does that justify saying that this race or that race are criminals? The problem is "Black people are good rappers" and other similar sentences are one step away from "Black people criminals", "Arabs are terrorists", "The Irish are alchoholic"...etcAgain, you can't be racist against your own kind. No black person is going to say to another black person that he is racistI'm sorry I just can't see the logic behind that, can you elaborate? And why can't someone say that a person of his own race is racist? I say that regularly to people of my own race who use the words "Black" and "Slave" interchangeably (an unfortunate and ignorant part of the evolution of the Lebanese dialogue that is thankfully becoming rarer)
capriccioso 2,545
I am growing out of it.Don't you dare do a 'Sloth' and ask for a rename! Spike Spiegel is your identity!Re: Germans and penaltiesWhile not applicable to club level it certainly holds true with the national team. Lukas Podolski's penalty miss in the South Africa World Cup was the first time in 26 years a German failed to find the net from the spot, in either open play or shootout.
