Kinol 337
Ramires done alright in the double pivot today but not getting carried away. We played Stoke today and not City, United, Arsenal etc.I agree. Mikel and Ramires had almost no pressure today and had a lot of time on the ball. dalVlatko 8
He did very well today. Hope RDM keeps him in there instead of on the wings.
manpe 10,861
This game was easier for the midfield double because Stoke mostly bypassed their midfield and played straight from defence to forwards or from wings to forwards. They also got time on the ball 'cause Stoke weren't insistent on actively pressing until we approached their final third. Instead they patiently invited us on to make room on our half of the pitch, illustrated by the fact that Mikel was through on goal at one point. But his performance was encouraging and hopefully he can do more of the same against teams who emphasize middle play and continuous pressing. Jase 43,479
Once again, thought he did alright in the double pivot yesterday. Still skeptical but his energy, pace and workrate is extremely useful there especially when we get caught out on the break or he happens to find himself out of position. His passing can still improve though.
KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
I thought Rambo was pretty immense against Le Arse myself. I feel some of us are still underrating him. His short passing was surprisingly good. Some misplaced passes, sure, but it looks like he can play possession football to an adequate enough level. Add in his incredible dogged determination, energy, willingness to tackle and harrass, bursting runs forward, deceptive strength and he should be a regular fixture in the central position. RamiCFC9 258
As I already said in Fellaini's thread anything is better compared to F.t Lampard.
Sheva. 5,373
Impressed with what i've seen from Ramires in the double pivot, the bad passing is expected, but his tackles and runs from the middle have been good in the past couple games. Also, when we lost the ball several times yesterday, Ramires was quick enough to get back and protect our defence. There's not much more you can ask from him, i just hope he keeps it up. Bosnian Blue

However, the double pivot has yet to be put under pressure while he's playing and that is mainly due to RDM playing the three maestros in front of it. I still don't believe he can survive there against teams that apply high pressure simple because he can't keep the ball. He's definitely proved to be capable of playing there though, and won't have too much of a problem against most teams.

People also tend to compare his good performances with Brazil, but Brazil rarely defends. They play very foward and opositions play on counter-attacks.His abalities to defend and keep posetion should be evaluated against big clubs (ManCity, Juve, RM, etc), not against clubs like Norwich, Southhampton, etc.

Bir_CFC 3,455
He's a very good dribbler, if someone presses him a lot and lets him turn with the ball then they're asking for trouble. I agree that he's not an ideal player for the double pivot but we need at least one ball winner in that pivot he's the only one we have. Romeu is another one, but either Ramires or Romeu have to be one of the double pivot in all games imo.
Rmpr 8,977
He did it against Arsenal. That is true, but it was only one game (stil early to say he delivers on DM) and due to the circunstances (Diaby out, Arteta schooled by Oscar) it was the biggest of the tests for him.
