Luke 60
I know many CFC fans will have their rose tinted specs on with regards to this one, but while watching the game today me and my Dad (oxfordblues) both agreed that JT has been off the pace for a while now, this was evident when he missed the ball completely when challenging Defoe at 0-0 and promply pulling him back by his arm. And things didnt get better throughout the match for him, he was missing the ball, letting his man go time and time again (Defoe), making stupid challenges (both yellows) his pace has gone and his decision making was a joke today. There was no need for him to dive in on Bale when he was running AWAY from goal, and to try and claim he got the ball, come on JT, get a grip.Whats happened to him lately? is 'Mr Invinsible' losing it or is this just a dip in form? TBH, he is our captain, he should be leading by example, not letting nerves get the better of him and costing us points.Opinions...

NattyBlue 44
He's played nearly all our games this season, it's not easy and until next saturday he'll have been the only member of the back 4 to not have been chopped and changed all season. He's tired, I'm glad Alex has really showed his quality lately neway.Maybe the red is a blessing in disguise if JT can get his fitness back
Randall 315
He was a bit off and he has been a couple of times, but he's still a top quality defender and more importantly a great leader and a bit of good English spirit in our defence. I think the whole wayne bridge thing has got to him a bit and the england thing and I think he's been struggling a bit with all of that but I still think he's a top class defender who's having a touch of an off patch. I still don't think it was handball today!

Blueboy 14
@ Randall; Redknapp himself said the penalty was harsh, but they should have got one earlier with Mikel, so doesn't bother really. Terry had a poor game today, and a pretty poor season overall to be honest. He made more mistakes this season and i really think the whole bridge thing has gotten to him. Manuf 1,448
I think it is one match, and he'll come back to get Liverpool and become a hero once again. At least I hope so. Edited April 17, 2010 by Manuf
Henrique 9,133
In my opnion, JT good days belong to the past. He has been doing lots of mistakes since last season, but I get the feel that he is a little bit overrated by english press because he was the captain of the national team since few months ago. He made mistakes, but awalys in newspapers I read: "JT is doing a superb season".
Badboy 1,526
John terry really struggles against pace and most forward players have worked it out. attacking players like defoe and bale just knock the ball past him and run, he then thinks he should bring the player down. Henrique 9,133
The problem is that JT is untouchable, if in next season he makes 10 mistakes every game, he still will be there...but Chelsea really needs to refresh his defence and Terry should start some games on the bench. BlueLion. 21,491
Spot on. He needs to he shown that he needs to up his game. That's why I said we need to take the captaincy from him. It will make him reconsider his place at the club. The more I think of it, the more I think we should have sold him to City.

It makes me think that what Makelele said about Mourinhos departure was true. I think that our defence should be Alex and Carvalho. At Manchester, Ferdinand, Giggs and Scholes start many games on the benchs, despite what they have done for the club in the past and its ok...but I get the feel that 4 years from this day, JT will be playing all the season in the first team. Luke 60
I think JT takes his place in the team for granted these days, he NEEDS to up his game. There is no denying that he loves the club, and he is a good defender, but some forwards have found him out pace wise (Defoe yesterday for example).I agree that I hope missing the next game will be a blessing, he can get his head straight ready for Liverpool. We all love JT, thats a given, but he has made TOO MANY mistakes this season, and he HAS cost us points (Everton away, Tottenham away).I want whats best for CFC, not whats best for John Terry. Rambo 1,729
liability? No. But he's taking things for granted and he really needs to step up his game. He can still be a top notch defender in this league but I can tell he's not strong mentally at the moment. Hopefully, winning a couple trophies will change that. Alee. 182
Drop him for a couple of games, just to tell him he doesn't have his name on the teamlist permanently, he has to earn it.
