Justin_3d 1,140
Yeah agreed. AVB and the board were naive to think that we could play a completely different style of football with the same players. He was trying to change too much and since our players are so slow (because of age and also because majority of them are used to playing that way) it didnt work out. That's why even under AVB, the games where we did well (City, Valencia) was when he reverted to the Mourinho tactics.Wait a minute, wasn't RDM brought to Chelsea cause he also liked attacking football? What it seems to me, that RDM is just much smarter to use what he got available and get the best out of it. ChelseaChick 430
I love Di Matteo but I don't want him to stay on as manager after this season. I think what he's done is amazing but like a lot of changes need to be made in the summer and I don't think hes the one to implement them. He gets on with the strong characters in the team and that plays to his advantage and its great atm but not sure what good it will do us next season. Saying that, I don't know who Chelsea should get to replace him..tricky.
Laylabelle 9,535
If he becomes permeant then the pressure is on!And we've seen what can happen it can go either way players can show managers resepect or randomly loose it and who knows what happen...results get bad the critics start to come out and the usual same old crap is said...Then again would he want it having seen how AVB was treated when things went wrong.. capriccioso 2,545
A lot of his success, I think, has come from the players responding to him as 'one of the lads'. It remains to be seen, though, if this attitude is carried over once he starts getting on their toes.
EskWeston 696
Unless we can get a real game changer of a manager in then i would want to see Robbie stay. He has done very well and has shown tactically he is very very clever, we do not have a great squad at the moment and he has done great with what he does have. There are not many managers i would choose ahead of him now having seen how he has settled into the role.

Blue Armour 4,439
I don't know what to say about this man...Two subs left, and logic suggested that he bring on Essien, Malouda or another defender to stifle their attacks...But bringing on Torres and removing Drogba, of all people?Take a bow, son, take a bow

Laylabelle 9,535
Sky Sports raised an intresting point about having someone considered when AVB got the sack and lined up to take over in summer...but club never that orangised so doubt it and bloody hell he deserves it!!And really hope we can win 2 trophy for him..or two be even better

Justin_3d 1,140
I do have to say his man management skills have been superb.Ranks up there with the Mourinho, Hiddink and Carlo. And last, it was funny at the end of the Barcelona game RDM having a little chat with Romeu. He probably knew he had split allegiance about the game, but RDM trying to do what AVB couldn't do; support and get every player in the team acting as one unit.Well done RDM. AVB's man management skills were non-existent. He has alot to learn. However I do think he will get a high profile job sometime in the near future. magicrico 175
We are undoubtable doing superbly under him...The problems come with knowing that the squad still needs an overhaul and this being carried out in the correct mannor...Knowing the likes of Malouda,Meireles,Bos,Drogs,Lamps even Torres to a lesser extent need replacing with top notch players, this as we know depends on top 4. That said our CL form,FA cup run has been nothing short of magnificent. I don't mean to take away from any of the above mentioned players either. It's about knowing whats best for the club and getting adequate raplcements in to challenge for the prem next year, this squad hasn't played well for the majority of the season under AVB it would have been interesting under RDM. But our league form while inproved, still isn't fantastic. We need top 4, so your league form right now has to be priority. Then if Robbie gets the job he has to carry out the clear out in the right way.
Justin_3d 1,140
The great Sacchi used to say that it was better to play with 10 men then 11.But for that to happen the team had to be very synchronized and the right changes to be made in the game. This a lone gives great credit to RDM! Kojo 4,676
I wouldn't mind Roman having a go himself, heck he might even be a good player, player manager anyone?.I can't wait till we see Kalou as our new manager, what a great achievement it was getting Kalou. I don't think anyone can doubt his abillity, not to mention i bet he's one bad ass manager. This be King Kalou on the side line telling those players who is BAWS!. Superblue 6,372
I think Gary Neville summed it up perfectly at the end of last night's game - What an unbelievable level of effort and commitment he is getting out of this group of players game after game.In 10 days we have smashed Spurs in an FA Cup final, knocked out Barcelona over 2 legs and held Arsenal on their own patch with mostly squad players. It does feel like back to the Mourinho era - he has players seemingly prepared to run through brick walls for him and the club. That comes from his own passion and love for this club. With the exception perhaps of Mourinho himself returning, surely the sensible choice to the Chelsea board must now be to give this man a permanent opportunity! Justin_3d 1,140
Di Matteo will have to waitRoberto Di Matteo will have to wait until the summer to see if he gets the Chelsea job on a permanent basis, according to the club's chief executive Ron Gourlay.http://www1.skysport...ll-have-to-wait
