Chelsea's youth team twice came back from a one-goal deficit to beat neighbours Fulham 4-3 at Cobham today (Saturday).Goals from Billy Knott (pictured with Josh McEachran), Ben Sampayo,Milan Lalkovic and captain Billy Clifford sealed the win on a breezypitch, which saw five goals scored in the first half.

Three of those arrived in as many minutes as Chelsea levelled, conceded and levelled again before going in ahead at half time.

Fulham played well, with plenty of attacking football, but Chelseaproved too tough a test for the travelling side in an exciting youthgame.

The visitors did take the lead with only four minutes played.Sampayo failed to close down their number 11 as he broke down the left, eventually releasing a ball to the centre-forward who tapped in withease.

It took another 20 minutes of football before Chelsea would equalisewhen Sampayo made up for his earlier mistake by sending in a dangerouscross which was headed in for an own-goal as Fulham tried to clear.

Fulham scored their second from the restart with some cleverfootball. Fast passing allowed them to build towards the box before thenumber 9 scored his second with a nod in at the far post.

Chelsea retaliated immediately as Sampayo released Clifford down theright flank. The captain then launched an inch-perfect cross to the farpost which Knott volleyed home with relish, almost smashing the ballthrough the top of the net, 2-2.

Lalkovic then made it three on the stroke of half time. GeorgeSaville was fouled at the edge of the box but the referee wisely playedon as the Chelsea player managed to push the ball behind the defensiveline.

Lalkovic then latched onto the pass and calmly slotted beyond the Fulham keeper to give Chelsea the lead.

The second half was less eventful than the first, as both keepers only had to deal with a couple of chances on goal.

The first for Fulham ended with their third goal as a freekick wassent ricocheting off the bar from 25 yards out. The ball then fell intothe centre-forward's path for him to tap home from close range andcomplete his hat-trick.

That goal came seven minutes after the restart; another seven minutes later and Chelsea were back in the lead.

This time the goal came from Clifford, who, alongside Knott, had been playing a good game of football for Chelsea.

McEachran had been enjoying his role at the top of the diamond, releasing several through balls for Mitrovic to chase, and this one hemade contact with.

After smashing the ball towards the net, Mitrovic's shot was pushedaway by the Fulham keeper, but only as far as Clifford's feet. He thenchipped over the line for Chelsea's fourth and final goal.

'The boys showed good character today,' explained youth team managerDermot Drummy after the game, 'and there were some great goals.

'We have to remember that everyone has a job to do and they showedthat in this game. Today we were really pleased with the boys,' headded.
