Steve 10,227
John Terry has launched a scathing attack on his Chelsea team-mates for not fighting hard enough in their defeat to Wigan. The previously unbeaten Blues were stunned by Roberto Martinez's side at the weekend after slumping to a surprise 3-1 loss. The victory was Wigan's first against one of the Premier League's 'big four' in a whopping 35 attempts by The Latics.Chelsea had made an impressive start to the new season under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, but were below-par at the DW Stadium.Terry is unhappy the team did not do the basics and dropped three points while their rivals all picked up weekend wins. Not good enough "The least we expect from every player is that we work hard and fight - and we did not do that," he said in The Sun."We didn't win our headers and we didn't win our tackles - and that's simply not good enough. "You can go anywhere and not play well. But when you come to places like this, you've got to match their work-rate. "We didn't do that, the whole team. That's the most disappointing thing."All the other big sides had emphatic wins, so it's even more disappointing we've thrown away three points."SKY
Aesthetic Relic 301
There was probably a touch of over confidence which is a state of mind the players should not get into. They are well aware that any team in the EPL are capable of taking points off you. Every game should be given the same attention to detail as the next. This has been the kick up the arse we deserve. Put it right next weekend.
terry26 6
i agree with that complacency is not needed but hopefully they got that out of their system now and want to bounce back
Rambo 1,729
Let's hope this will be our final wake up call because if we want to lift the trophy, we cannot afford to drop points. IMO one loss is not the end of the world, I'm sure it'll make us a stronger team vs liverpool.
Ray. 217
We can't dwell on the past, what's done is done. Just need to move on and make sure it doesn't happen again.
