Should have started vs Portsmouth

I have said this on the Bertrand thread but it would be great if we could have him and Ryan as our two full backs in the future. Two English, homegrown, academy graduates who can cross and defend. Sadly it looks like we'll balls it up with Bertrand and not sure if Hutchinson can still make a come back all the way to the first team. Still crossing fingers!

Let us not kid ourselves. Despite our sentiments for Sam, he was only on the bench because of our numerous injuries. We should not forget that he was out for a very very long period and missed out on a very important stage of his development as a player, I'm not sure he is ready for first-team football just yet.

I think his physical readiness is in question more than anything... the gap between reserve and premier league is colossal.

true but he should definitely be given a run out to test that. 15-20 minutes at the end of games. Oh wait! We don't play youth players!

If we dont give him some playing time we should loan him out to a championship team so he get some games!

When cahill and Ivan are ready he wont even be on the bench i reckon so a loan now would be the best solution!

Very unlikely he will go out on loan i would think. His injury problems mean he has to be very carefully managed, allowing another club to take control of that would be a risk.
