For the second weekendrunning the Under 18s had to play a lengthy period of an away fixturewith 10 men but unlike at Bristol City, a defeat rather than a win wasthe outcome.Last week the young Blues were a goal up when a red card was shownand managed to hang on. In the latest outing they had only justequalised following an early Coventry goal.

That initial set back was followed by a 30-minute spell when Chelseawere under the cosh as Coventry pressed and the passing wasn't good.

However the equaliser came on 38 minutes thanks to a great turn andstrike from Marko Mitrovic (pictured) from about 25 yards. Soon after, midfielder Kaby picked up a yellow card for dissent and then only threeminutes later and just before the break, he went into a 50-50 tackleand was sent off.

The 10 men had a tough time for the first 15 minutes of the secondhalf with the home side hitting woodwork twice, but Chelsea rode theirluck and improved, scoring what looked a good goal from Conor Cliffordbut Mitrovic was questionably deemed to be interfering with play.

Then a Chelsea penalty appeal was turned down for an incident insidethe box, the ref giving a free-kick outside it. As the game drewtowards the end, there were two chances for substitutes Bobby Devineand Philipp Prosenik.

However the resistance was broken by a goal 10 minutes from timewhen the team didn't deal with a direct ball and Sam Walker got a handto a well-struck shot but could only help it on its way into the goal.

'We really played well second-half considering the circumstances,' reports youth team manager Dermot Drummy.

'If we had got a point out of it we would have been really pleased but we have to take some positives.

'I think Kaby looked after himself in the challenge that earned thesecond yellow card but the ref deemed that he was going for the man andregarding the first yellow, our players have to learn that dissent issomething you shouldn't do. We had a lad sent off last week forretaliation so the message is we want fire and effort and endeavour butit has to be controlled, composed aggression.

'Schoolboy Danny Mills and Kenny Strickland at the heart of thedefence are really doing very well for us against some direct physicalsides and Marko Mitrovic is giving consistent performances and scoringgoals. In general I am pleased with the effort and attitude of theteam.'

Chelsea: Sam Walker; Ben Sampayo (Aziz Deen-Conteh), KennyStrickland, Danny Mills, Tom Hayden; Josh McEachran; Conor Clifford,Kaby Djalo; Anton Rodgers; Billy Knott (Bobby Devine), Marko Mitrovic(Philipp Prosenik).
